MOTC approves new diversified TAXI service system / "多元計程車"抗Uber 最快明年1月上路　　　　　　　　　　

If you're not a fan of yellow cabs but also do not believe in Uber, there will soon be another option or options. The Ministry Of Transportation And Communications yesterday approved of a new diversified taxi framework. To differentiate from regular cabs, taxis under the new framework cannot be yellow, and can only be booked through an application in advance or flagged down at designated locations. Except this and a few other rules, businesses are free to design their own diversified taxi service. The new framework is expected to be implemented as early as next January. The Ministry of Transportation and Communications is promoting its new type of taxi service called a diversified taxi. The operating business owners can submit their proposals to local governments for reviews. ==MR. CHANG, Driver== The revenue definitely will go down, the revenue will go down. Unless there are sufficient promotions done by the government. ==MISS HUANG, Driver== The base fare and rates for the diversified taxi cannot be lower than regular taxi's. Then it must be higher than the charges by Uber. (Not advantageous) The Ministry of Transportation and Communications had stated, Uber has created an impact to the 87,000 taxi cabs in Taiwan. In order to stimulate the market for diversified taxi service, the fare shall not be lower than the fare charged by regular taxi. The rate shall be set by local governments, and the diversified taxi cannot pick up passengers on road. Payment options will be either cash or electronic payment. The total fare estimation must be displayed prior to departure. ==LI CHAO-HSIEN, Dept. of Railways Highways Senior Specialist== It is another type of management or market segmentation. It also does not have an overhead light. The range of fare base and rates are to be reviewed by local government and set by the operating business. To ensure passenger's safety, diversified taxi must have driver's information displayed inside the vehicle. Only the vehicles with four or more doors are eligible to apply. The service is only available through the reservation, the color of diversified taxis shall not be yellow.
