Museum Announces Measures to Improve Experience 南美館殭屍展改採分流制 7月改預約制

The exhibition "Ghosts and Hells: The Underworld in Asian Art" is currently on display at Tainan Art Museum. On June 28, the museum announced new measures to ensure the quality of visits.

Although it was a blistering weekday, a long line of people could be found outside Tainan Art Museum. 

Queuer : “I've been in line for over an hour. It's so hot. ”

These people were waiting to see the exhibition "Ghosts and Hells: The Underworld in Asian Art," including the display of three jiangsi that have featured in promotional materials. The exhibition has been so popular that the museum was forced to suspend ticket sales three times since it opened. People are packed into the galleries, affecting the quality of visits. The museum announced that starting June 28, people will be given a time limit of 55 minutes to tour the exhibition and there will be limits on the size of the crowd. Starting in July, reservations will be required.

Wu Tai-fang, Public Relations Specialist, Tainan Art Museum: “Starting today, we have a time-based visit mechanism. Every hour on the hour, we let 300 people enter to tour the three galleries. We're launching a reservation system on July 1 so that people won't have to line up outside in such hot weather.”

The popularity of this museum has also resulted in a surge of interest in Madou Daitian Temple, which is a 40-minute car ride from the museum. The temple has an attraction called "18 Levels of Hell," whose walls include paintings of people awaiting judgment. The temple says it was extremely surprised by this surge of interest.

Resident: “I heard there were lots of people this week. ( Reporter: “You live nearby, have there been a lot of people recently?”) Yes, more than usual.”

Visitor: “Tainan Art Museum is too crowded, and there should be fewer people here. That's why I came for the first time to see these 18 Levels of Hell. It should be a new experience.”

Lin Chun-chieh, Personnel, Tourism Division, Madou Daitian Temple: “People have told us that there are so many people crowded around those jiangshi over there that they decided to come here. There are more people during weekends.”

Taiwan's epidemic situation appears to be improving, and people are traveling domestically again.

排隊民眾說：「排一個多小時， 這種天氣很熱。」

民眾就是衝著展場內的三具殭屍藝術品，開展以來，南美館3度停止售票。滿滿人潮擠滿美術館，也影響參觀品質，因此南美館從28日起，採取分流制度，每場次參觀時間為55分鐘控管人流。7月起更採預約制，提醒前往看展的民眾留意。

台南市美術館公關專員吳岱芳表示：「我們會採一個分時段的參觀機制，也就是說，我們可能整點，讓300個民眾進去看這3個展，從7月1日開始，我們要做一個預約制，避免大家這麼熱的天氣下，在外面排隊。」

南美館這波熱潮，也帶動了車程40分鐘遠的麻豆代天府觀光熱，麻豆代天府有一處十八層地獄，內部壁上還畫著要審判的情境圖，加上聲光動作，帶入勸人向善、心存正念必有善報的精神態度。廟方表示，近期的確多了很多人，讓他們始料未及。

當地民眾說：「聽說這禮拜很多人 ，(記者問：「你住這附近，最近人很多？」)有啦，有多一些人。」

來參觀民眾也說：「南美館那邊是人太多了，所以來這邊應該是沒什麼人，想說第一次看這個十八層地獄，應該是蠻有新鮮感的。」


麻豆代天府觀光組員林俊傑表示：「殭屍展那邊，人都擠滿了，說都沒辦法，只好來這邊，禮拜六日比較多。」

探索人類未知世界的奧秘，滿足人類好奇心，再加上台灣疫情漸漸趨緩，人潮出遊，也帶動台南一波觀光熱潮。
