Previously, the Ministry of Culture and the Taitung County Government teamed up to offer "comprehensive musician training courses" in the county's Tiehua Music Village. This year, they invited 11 music creators with a combined 30 Golden Melody Awards, Golden Bell Awards, and Golden Horse Awards as teachers to provide these courses.
Singer Chen Jian-nian is a four-time winner of the Golden Melody Award. He has always loved music, and taught himself how to create and sing music without the help of any teachers.
Chen is a retired police officer. This year, he accepted an invitation from Taitung County's Tiehua Music Village to serve as a teacher for the "comprehensive musician training courses" offered by the Ministry of Culture and the Taitung County Government. He hopes to draw on his own experiences to train the next generation of music creators in Taitung.
I'm all for working hard to develop one's own creations, develop one's own potential. I think this is the best thing you can do.
This is the second year that the Taitung County Government is offering the courses with the support of the Ministry of Culture. Twenty new talents underwent training during the first edition. For the current edition, 11 music creators with a combined 30 Golden Melody Awards, Golden Bell Awards, and Golden Horse Awards were invited to serve as teachers, including Chen and Wu Hao-en. They will teach music creation courses on composing, singing, and recording.
Basically speaking, it's the process from a singer wanting to create things to finally creating a compilation. However, Taitung has many young people who don't have this kind of opportunity.
This year, 25 budding musical talents will spend four months learning from qualified teachers. Each one will be required to complete an original song.
