Taiwan recently confirmed its first case of lumpy skin disease, a disease of cattle and buffalo caused by a virus. Livestock farms in Miaoli and areas to the north have already vaccinated their cattle, while farms in areas to the south are preparing to do the same.

Personnel ran away as soon as they ran out of darts to get out of the animals’ way. The first case of lumpy skin disease, a disease of cattle and buffalo caused by a virus, on Taiwan proper was recently found in Linkou District. New Taipei City rushed to vaccinate cattle and buffalos and used drones to locate the animals. It managed to vaccinate 283 free-range cattle and wild buffalos.

The first case was confirmed on April 15. It took three days to complete the vaccination of animals at livestock farms in Miaoli and areas to the north. The work will continue. The Livestock Disease Control Center of Chiayi County previously carried out vaccinations in Kinmen. It says the upcoming work in the county should be easier than Kinmen as the cattle in Kinmen is distributed in a wider range and it takes a long time just to locate them. Chiayi has 9,600 heads of cattle, of which 70 percent are dairy cattle. The county aims to complete the vaccination as quickly as possible once it receives the vaccines.

吹完箭，人員隨即往反方向快跑，就怕被牛群撞傷，由於林口出現本島牛結節疹首例，新北市儘快完成養牛場施打，更出動空拍機沿著河床找牛，千辛萬苦完成283頭放養疫用牛與野放水牛的施打。
新北市動保處經濟動物組長 謝侑達表示：「必須要跋山涉水，陷入泥沼，才能夠接觸這些牛隻，防疫人員必須接近幾乎是野生的牛群，10公尺以內的距離。」
15號出現確診案例後，苗栗以北養牛場三天內完成疫苗施打，接下來要擴大。曾至金門支援疫苗施打的嘉義縣防治所表示，接下來在轄內執行，應該會比金門的容易，金門牛隻放養範圍大，光找牛就要找很久，嘉義縣目前在養9千6百多頭，七成是乳牛，在取得疫苗後，會力拚短時間內完成任務。
嘉義縣家畜疾病防治所長 林珮如表示：「如果我們可以在最短時間之內，把所有的疫苗，全部都打過一輪的話，它是等於說，一個全面防疫的概念，所以這樣子，應該對疫情的控制，其實是會非常有幫助。」
看似家庭代工的場景，其實是嘉義防治所人員趕工製作吹箭，提早準備好工具，希望疫苗到貨時能高效率作業，雖然牛結節疹病毒已經入侵本島，但目前已完成全國牛場健康訪視，未發現異狀。
