Interior Ministry Suggests KMT to Change Its Emblem 與國徽太相似 內政部建議改國民黨徽

The KMT criticises the Ministry of the Interior t's suggestion to change its party emblem, saying the ruling party is trying to wipe out the KMT.
The Legislative Yuan passed a proposal made by New Power Party in January, requesting a feasibility study on the alteration of the national emblem of the Republic of China. In response, the Ministry of the Interior said on the 8th that the national emblem must not be easily altered as it is an internationally recognized symbol. Besides, it in turns "advises" the KMT to make "slight and appropriate" adjustments to its party emblem, as the two bear a high degree of similarity.

There are other symbols which can be used to represent freedom and democracy of a political party. The Ministry is merely offering a suggestion to the KMT.
In response, the KMT said its party emblem has a long history and was registered according to relevant laws. It criticized the Ministry of the Interior of intervening its party affairs, which the party believes, is unconstitutional. KMT Chairperson Johnny Chiang even accused the ruling party of trying to "wipe out" the KMT.
The party emblem came before the national emblem. We are now asking if the DPP identifies with our national flag and emblem. The DPP shouldn't have their order of things reversed. The KMT party will not be wiped out like this.
People get confused by the national emblem and the party emblem often. It is a fact. The alteration cannot be halted just because KMT refused to change.
We did not name any party to change their party emblem.
Chen clarified that the report serves only as a suggestion; it is not compulsory for the KMT to change its party emblem.
國民黨黨部，青天白日的國旗與黨旗交錯飄揚，立法院一月底通過時代力量提案，要求內政部評估改國徽的必要性。內政部8號表示，國徽的運用廣泛，國際間有識別度，不宜輕易修改；但國徽與國民黨徽類似，黨國不分的時代已過，政黨標章應該順應時代的變遷，尊重國徽，適度調整。
內政部次長 陳宗彥表示：「政黨的自由化跟民主化，有一些徽章政黨的徽章，也可以有一些更易的狀況，僅就這一塊提出。」
國民黨表示，國民黨黨徽有其歷史意義，依政黨法向內政部核備之政黨標章，批評內政部干涉黨徽根本違憲。綠營立委支持國徽黨徽有所區別，國民黨主席江啟臣批評民進黨本末倒置、想消滅國民黨。
國民黨立委 江啟臣表示：「黨徽是先於國徽，而且我們應該反過來，請教民進黨，認不認同我們的國旗跟國徽？民進黨不要本末倒置，也不要認為，要用這樣的方式，來消滅國民黨。」
民進黨立委 陳亭妃表示：「國徽跟黨徽一直被混淆不清，這已經是一直存在的話題，不能因為他反彈，而把這件事情停擺。」
內政部次長 陳宗彥表示：「我們並沒有特別提到，要求哪個政黨做更改。」
不過內政部次長陳宗彥也澄清，這份報告僅屬建議性質，並無強制要求國民黨更改黨徽。
