Emerging Drugs Caused 143 Deaths in 2020 青少年濫用新興毒品 混搭笑氣情況嚴重

Emerging drugs have become more popuiar in recent years. Experts say they are sometimes mixed with laughing gas, which is nothing to laugh about as it took 143 lives in 2020.
Armed police officers climb to the second floor dance hall and begin the raid. The Taoyuan police had received a report that drugs were being sold at this large dance hall. They arrested numerous foreign workers, and questioned them at the scene. They also found drugs such as super ecstasy and ketamine on their bodies, and brought in nearly 100 people for questioning. Five foreign workers were transferred to prosecutors on suspicion of selling drugs.

We captured over 100 Vietnamese workers suspected of being involved with drugs at the scene. We also seized evidence including category two narcotics, category three narcotics, and brass knuckles.
The drugs seized in the raid included PMMA, which is also known as super ecstasy. It is a category two narcotic with a high toxicity and fatality rate. It killed 93 people in 2020. Emerging drugs have become more prevalent in recent years. The Taiwan High Prosecutors Office said emerging drugs killed 143 people in 2020. They had on average four types of drugs in their bodies, showing that people are frequently mixing drugs. Young people have also been found to mix emerging drugs with laughing gas. Emerging drugs are commonly made from mephedrone, nitrazepam, and nimetazepam. Some inhibit the central nervous system, while others are stimulants. They become more dangerous when mixed.
Ninety percent of the category four narcotics we confiscated were made from the primary material in category three narcotic mephedrone, which is 2-Bromo-4-methylpropiophenone. We know mephedrone is commonly mixed with other drugs in coffee sachets, and this is something we need to pay attention to.
The office said the majority of the 2-Bromo-4-methylpropiophenone confiscated last year were smuggled from China. Although fentanyl has not been found in Taiwan, global intelligence shows it may arrive soon. Marijuana is now widely and easily available, so it could become more common as well.

桃市刑大副大隊長 許木生表示：「到現場有查獲，疑似涉毒的越南籍移工，有上百人，並查扣第二、三級毒品，及手指虎等證物。」
這起案件，被查到俗稱超級搖頭丸的PMMA，為二級毒品，毒性強，致死率高，光是去年就造成93名施用者死亡，毒品危害社會，近年來，"新興毒品"仍不斷推陳出新，高檢署表示，去年施用新興毒品的死亡人數達到143人，體內平均含有4種毒品，顯示混用毒品情況嚴重，實務上，更發現到，青少年會濫用新興毒品混搭笑氣，警方則說，新興毒品的主要成分，包含喵喵、硝西泮、一粒眠等，有的為中樞神經的抑制劑；有的則為興奮劑，混合後危害性更高。
高檢署檢察官 吳廣莉表示：「查獲的一個四級毒品裡面，有九成是第三級毒品，"喵喵"的先驅原料，"2-溴-4甲基苯丙酮"。我們知道"喵喵"，又是混合式的一個毒咖啡包中，最常見的一個成分。所以這個部分，是我們要注意的一個部分。」
另外，高檢署也指出，去年查獲到的毒品，以三級毒品"喵喵"的原料，"2-溴-4甲基苯丙酮"，從中國走私來台佔大宗，至於"吩坦尼"，雖然尚未在國內發現，但從國際情資來看來勢洶洶；大麻則因來源多元、取得管道便利，也持續升溫中。
