KMT REPORTS DISCOVERY OF NT$38.5B GOLD BONDS|國民黨主動公布擁美金債券 市值約385億

On March 17, the KMT announced that it had discovered U.S. gold bonds with a current value of NT$38.5 billion among its party assets. According to the laws, no outstanding foreign currency denominated bonds issued in the Mainland can be processed prior to national unification. The newly discovered bonds are basically pie in the sky for the Ill-Gotten Party Assets Settlement Committee. KMT Administration and Management Committee Director Chiu Da-chan stated that they filed for the discovery according to the laws. The IGPASC stated that it would wait for the KMT to declare the assets before taking any action. The KMT announced that it had discovered US gold bonds with a current value of NT$38.5 billion among its party assets. As the law stated that no outstanding foreign currency bonds issued in the Mainland prior to national unification shall be repaid, the public questioned the purpose of the KMT's announcement. The KMT stated that they were simply abiding by the law. ==CHIU DA-CHAN KMT Administration and Management Committee Director== We were simply following the IGPASC's order despite the unreasonable and unconstitutional rules. Since the law requires us to declare party assets, we will abide by the law. According to the law, we have to finish the declarations by August, and we will do so. The Ill-Gotten Party Assets Settlement Committee stated that it has some understanding of KMT assets. The committee will decide how to process the bonds after the KMT declares them. ==SHIH CHIN-FANG IGPASC Spokesperson== We will wait until their declaration. If the KMT has certain assets or transfers any asset, they will record them. Director Chiu Da-chan stated that the KMT had purchased the bonds to help secure the national currency and economy, and therefore did not redeem the bonds for the sake of fiscal stability. He emphasized that the public must not deny the KMT's contributions to the country.
