Electricity Prices Soared by 15% for Heavy Industrial Consumers 用電大戶漲15% 千度以下住宅.商家不漲

The electricity price review meeting was held this afternoon to decide whether to increase the electricity price in July. Ahead of the meeting, the National Federation of Industries issued a statement last night, saying that it is unfair to only increase the price of large electricity users. The federation also recommends the government increase prices in stages. On the other hand, the Chamber of Commerce did not oppose the increase in electricity prices.

The electricity price review meeting was held at 2 p.m. on the 27th. Representatives from industries, the government, and academia met and decided whether to increase electricity prices in July.

Citizen: “Most people don't want the price to go up. They should let the economy get a little better and raise the price after the election.”

Citizen: “I can accept an electricity price increase of 3 percent. The smaller the increase, the more affordable it will be.”

Most people believe that residential electricity prices should remain. If electricity prices are raised again, inflation will keep rising. 

Hsu Shu-po, Chair, General Chamber of Commerce of the Republic of China: “I think the prices shouldn't be raised because of losses incurred by sectors from the epidemic prevention policy, such as tourism, retail, and bakeries. You can increase the electricity price in sectors that made a profit during the epidemic.”

The National Federation of Industries has something to say regarding the increase in electricity price. Miao Feng-chiang, chairperson of the National Federation of Industries issued a statement on the evening of the 26th, arguing that it is "unfair" to increase electricity prices only for heavy users. This will make things worse for traditional manufacturers. In addition, the summer electricity fee just started on June 1. The Federation recommends increasing the electricity price in stages. The government should wait until Oct. 1 to review the electricity price for the second half of the year. The CNFI recommends increasing the electricity price by 3 percent this time.

Ho Yu, Executive Director, Chinese National Federation of Industries: “Electricity prices should not increase by more than 3 percent. We hope it's a gradual increase. If the electricity price rises again, it will cause inflation due to our circular economy.”

The Taipei MRT also opposes the increase in electricity prices, emphasizing that the annual cost of electricity in the past three years is about NT$2 billion. If the electricity price increases by 8 percent, the MRT's operating costs will increase by about NT$150 million. Taipei MRT calls on the central government to make a prudent assessment because it has not adjusted its fares for 26 years. The MRT says the government should provide rail transport utilities with discounts on electricity prices instead. 

27日下午2時召開電價費率審議會，產官學界代表意見交鋒，將決定7月電價是否調漲。

有民眾說：「一般人不要漲，不要大家一起漲，景氣變好一點，選完之後再漲。」 

也有民眾表示可以接受：「（能接受電價漲幅是多少？) 3%吧！漲幅比較小一點點，比較可以負擔。」

多數民眾認為，一般民生用電應該凍漲，若再漲電價，將推升通膨。

商總理事長許舒博指出：「因為防疫政策之下所產生的虧損，這些產業像觀光產業、零售業、糕餅業，有很多的這些產業，我認為要凍漲，假使有獲利的， (可)調高這個電價。」

對於電價調漲方案，全國工業總會也有話要說。工總理事長苗豐強26日晚間發出聲明稿，認為只漲用電大戶漲電價並不公平，對傳統產業營運將是雪上加霜，加上6月1日才剛啟動夏季電價，建議電價分階段調漲，等到10月1日再檢討下半年電價，建議這次電價漲幅，先維持上限3%。

工總常務理事何語表示：「電價漲幅不要超過3%，希望是漸進式的，電價再漲的話，就會再促進物價再漲，循環性經濟嘛！」

另外針對電價調漲，台北捷運也反對電價調漲，強調近3年每年電費成本約20億，若漲8%計算，初估將增加約1.5億營運成本，呼籲中央審慎評估，因為票價26年沒調整，應提供軌道公用企業，用電大戶電價優惠。
