DPP Taoyuan Candidate to Resign as Hsinchu Mayor 林智堅:解隔後提辭呈 遷戶籍至桃園備戰

The Taoyuan City mayoral election will pit candidates from the three major parties. Democratic Progressive Party candidate Lin Chih-chien is currently isolating at home after testing positive for COVID-19. He said in an online post that he intends to resign as Hsinchu City mayor sometime in July and change his household registration to Taoyuan. Kuomintang candidate Simon Chang finished changing his household registration to Taoyuan's Longtan District on June 20, while Taiwan People's Party candidate Lai Hsiang-ling campaigned at Taoyuan Station on June 21.

The Taoyuan City mayoral race is heating up. Democratic Progressive Party candidate Lin Chih-chien, who is currently the mayor of Hsinchu City, said on Facebook on June 20 that he will resign as mayor in July and switch his household registration to Taoyuan. He claimed that Hsinchu City's municipal affairs won't be neglected because of his departure or Deputy Mayor Shen Hui-hung's campaigning.

Lin Chih-chien, Mayor, Hsinchu City: “I'll finish the 7+7 on June 30. At about the beginning or in the middle of July, I'll submit my resignation and shift my household registration to Taoyuan and start campaigning.”

Simon Chang, the Kuomintang's candidate for Taoyuan City mayor, completed the process to transfer his household registration to Longtan District on June 20. When asked about Lin's resignation and his possible household registration transfer to Qingpu, Chang said he believes the city's people will make the right choice. He campaigned at the grassroots level on June 21.

Simon Chang, KMT Taoyuan City Mayoral Candidate: “I worked in Longtan for 12 years, so transferring my household registration to Longtan is returning to a familiar place. I'm not doing it to be safe, I'm doing it because this place means something to me.”

Taiwan People's Party candidate Lai Hsiang-ling campaigned at Taoyuan Station on June 21 and announced her "onward Taoyuan" platform. She described the race as a showdown between political elite and a populist candidate.

Lai Hsiang-ling, TPP Taoyuan City Mayoral Candidate: “This battle appears to be a battle between President Tsai and Chairperson Chu. What I want to ask is whether the people of Taoyuan want such a high-level battle to select the head of Taoyuan City?”

Lai laughed when asked about when she will transfer her household registration to Taoyuan and where she will buy a house. She responded that her household registration will be in Taoyuan District and a populist mayor would only rent not buy.

桃園市長選戰開打，藍綠白皆派人選參戰，代表民進黨出征桃園市長選舉的新竹市長林智堅，20日透過臉書強調，預計7月請辭遷戶籍到桃園，新竹市政工作不會因他離開，或副市長沈慧虹參選就荒廢。

新竹巿長林智堅表示：「6月30日，才會7加7的時間才會到，（7月）月初或月中左右，我會提出辭呈，然後將我的戶籍遷到桃園，來做參選的工作。」

而國民黨桃園市長參選人張善政20日前往龍潭區戶政事務所完成入籍，落腳龍潭渴望園區。對於林智堅請辭參選，並可能遷籍到桃園青埔，張善政相信桃園鄉親會做出自己的選擇，他今天也持續走訪基層。

國民黨桃園市長參選人張善政表示：「我在龍潭工作了12年，所以到龍潭把戶籍遷過去，是飲水思源的作法，沒有什麼安全牌、不安全牌。」

被藍綠夾殺的民眾黨桃園市長參選賴香伶21日在桃園火車站廣場公布「桃園前進」競選主軸，強調這是一場政治權貴對上平民市長的對決。

民眾黨桃園市長參選人賴香伶說：「這次的戰爭，好像是蔡總統跟朱主席的戰爭，那我要問，我們桃園市民要這樣的一個，用這樣的一個高層戰爭，來選擇我們的桃園市的大家長嗎？」

被問到何時遷戶籍到桃園，以及購屋地點，賴香伶笑談，戶籍會在桃園區，平民市長就是租房子。
