Confidential Document Leaked: Xi to Take Over of Taiwan in Fall? 疑俄密件外洩 指習原擬秋天「全面接管台灣」

Chinese President Xi Jinping had planned to completely take over Taiwan this fall, according to a confidential document believed to have leaked from Russia. Foreign Affairs Minister Joseph Wu did not confirm the report's authenticity, only saying that Taiwan should secure its defense capabilities at all times regardless of whether China may attack or not.

While the Russia-Ukraine war continues, there appeared to be a confidential document leaked from the Federal Security Service of Russia whose content involved Taiwan. The report allegedly pointed out that Chinese President Xi Jinping deliberated over the total takeover of Taiwan in the fall, to help with his re-election but because of the Russia-Ukraine war, the chance of China attacking Taiwan has plummeted.

Joseph Wu, Minister of Foreign Affairs: “I am unsure if this document is authentic or if it is true. But regardless of whether China may attack us, or when, we should be ready to self-defend at all times.”

In an interview with a US think tank, former Japanese Prime Minister Abe Shinzo noted that Xi is fortifying his powers and no longer hides his ambitions towards Taiwan, thus Japan-Taiwan relations should be strengthened to ensure Taiwan's safety. With the increasing threat from China, Minister of Foreign Affairs Joseph Wu emphasized that Taiwan has always relied on itself in defense and the US will announce more arms sales.

Joseph Wu, Minister of Foreign Affairs: “The US will continue to provide us with weapons with the subsequent announcement of more arms sales. Next, it will be followed by more discussions on regional safety. The US needs to deploy sufficient forces to counter Chinese threats in these regions, and I believe the US is already doing it.”

Concerning the Russian attack on Ukraine, Taiwan has already initiated the second wave of humanitarian assistance. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs organized 2,400 boxes of donated goods and is prepared to ship in batches starting March 17 through Slovakia to the Ukrainians.

俄烏戰事持續之際，俄羅斯聯邦安全局一份機密文件疑似外洩，裡面內容更有關台灣。這份報告指出中國國家主席習近平，曾考慮過在今年秋天「全面接管台灣」，想要以此讓自己能順利連任。不過因為俄烏戰事，讓中國攻打台灣的機會渺茫。

外交部長吳釗燮回應：「有關於這個文件，我不確定這個是不是事實。不管中國是不是要攻擊我們，或者是什麼時候要攻擊我們，我們隨時隨地都要做好自我防衛的準備。」

前日本首相安倍晉三接受美國智庫訪問時也表示，習近平正在鞏固他的權力基礎，不再隱藏對台灣的野心。他認為應該加強日台關係，確保台灣安全。面對中國威脅升高，外交部長吳釗燮強調，台灣防衛一向靠自己，接下來美國還會有軍售宣布。

外交部長吳釗燮說：「美國是不斷的提供我們武器，接下來還會有軍售的宣布，接下來就是說跟我們有更多的，這個安全的討論。而且美國要在區域部署足夠，能夠排除這些威脅的武力，我想美國都在做。」

至於這次俄羅斯入侵烏克蘭，台灣已經啟動第二波人道援助，外交部先整理出2400多箱民眾捐贈物資，準備在17日開始分批起運，將會經過斯洛伐克送到烏克蘭人民的手中。
