CECC Denounces Quarantine Violators|

The COVID-19 pandemic is continuing to escalate, but many are still violating home quarantine orders. In Kaohsiung, a person who was undergoing home quarantine decided to invite friends over for a party, fortunately he was reported, and the party did not occur.

He invited some friends to his home for a party. The management committee has concerns that there will be penalties.

A Kaohsiung resident had to undergo home quarantine, and as he wasn't allowed to leave his home, he decided to invite friends over to his house for a party. Central Epidemic Command Center Commander Chen Shih-chung was incensed at this behavior.

A person who should be undergoing home quarantine decided to throw a party. On the one hand, this person isn't afraid of dying. On the other hand, this behavior is extremely inconsiderate. Your family members told you that you had to undergo home quarantine. Were you really that inconsiderate that you decided to put your friends in danger? As for those who were invited, well... Anyway, I think we will strictly prohibit this type of situation.

Chen added there is no ban on visiting people undergoing home quarantine although visits should be limited, but inviting friends over for a party was simply too much. This type of behavior will not only be banned, but also penalized. The coronavirus disease 2019 epidemic continues to escalate in Taiwan. On March 25, 19 new cases were reported to bring the total to 235. As of March 24, there were 43,000 people undergoing home quarantine and 2,100 undergoing home isolation. Efforts are being made to prevent the epidemic from spreading further, yet there are people who are flouting home quarantine orders and showing no regard for others.

In Hualien, residents reported that two students studying in the United States returned to Taiwan and arrived at Taoyuan International Airport. They were supposed to take special disease prevention taxis to return home to start their home quarantines. They decided to make a stop to buy oyster omelets along the way.

On their way home, they got off the car in our city center to buy food. Under our regulations, individuals required to undergo home quarantine must return home immediately.

Hualien County's Health Bureau fined each of the students NT$100,000, and netizens joked that the students had spent NT$100,000 each on oyster omelets. There have been numerous cases of people violating home quarantine or isolation orders. The central government has therefore unified the punishment standards. Those who violate home quarantine orders will be fined NT$100,000 for the first instance of leaving home, and then NT$200,000 for staying out for two to six hours, NT$600,000 for staying out for one to three days, and NT$1 million for staying out for more than three days. A second violation will lead to the person being forcibly confined. CECC statistics show 229 people have violated regulations and a total of NT$18.66 million in fines have been issued.
