Taipei City Mayor Ko Wen-je recently attended the launch ceremony of a new electric bus in Taipei and said that he is confident about his achievements as a mayor. However, Kuomintang candidate Ting Shou-chong criticized Taipei's bus system for being the slowest among cities, and that Ko is just attending the ceremony to win votes. Democratic Progressive Party candidate Pasuya Yao also criticized Ko and further pointed out that there are Chinese influence in many candidates' internet's Share of Voice.
Lion dances are held in celebration of the launch of a new electric bus in Taipei. Taipei City Mayor Ko Wen-je attended the ceremony, and said he's confident about his achievement as a mayor despite the criticism that Taipei's bus system is the slowest among six major cities.
The launch of this new bus is backed by a lot of preparation. Wait and see its usage rate after half a year. It's easy to put an electric vehicle on the road, but only the ones that are still running can be considered successful.
On the other hand, Ting Shou-chong, the candidate for Taipei mayor from opposition Kuomintang (KMT) criticized Ko, saying that Ko used to dislike attending launch ceremonies in the past, and that choosing now to promote electric buses is simply to get more votes.
Taipei's electric bus system is the slowest among the six municipalities. Ko has attended more than 50 launch ceremonies in October, while many of those buses weren't even completed at the time. He's working so hard to attend these ceremonies. Didn't he used to dislike public appearance like these?
Pasuya Yao, candidate for Taipei mayor from ruling Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) also criticized Ko during a recent interview, saying he is worse than KMT. Yao also commented on a recent incident in which DPP Legislator Chiu Yi-ying claimed that Han Kuo-yu, KMT candidate for Kaohsiung mayor, could have sexual relations with his employees' wives. Chiu has since apologized for her statement, and Yao said she didn't need to.
I saw that Chiu apologized for her statement in a Line (online chat app) group. I think that's totally unnecessary. That's basically (KMT candidate for Kaohiung mayor) Han Kuo-yu's malarkey. So you're saying that Chiu did not need to apologize at all? How can one not criticize a candidate like Han? Chiu was just rephrasing his own statement in a satirical way.
Yao also said he believes some of the Share of Voice online around some candidates are actually contributed by paid internet professionals from China and hopes DPP will stand their ground at the last leg of the election.
