A single egg with excessive dioxin residue has caused such a national panic and discussion. What is dioxin and what are its health effects? Dioxin refers to a family of toxic chemical compounds. They are some of the most toxic chemicals known to science, which can cause cancer in animal studies. How much is too much? Experts say the majority of people fall well within the safety limit in terms of their exposure. If you are still worried, eating fruit and vegetables may help remove them from the human body.
The discovery of dioxin in eggs has led to worries about food safety again. Dioxin has a half life of seven years in the human body and high exposure, short term can cause skin lesions. Long-term, low-level exposure can cause cancer and miscarriage.

It decreases immunity and leads to lymphoma or lung cancer, if pregnant women are exposed to dioxin long term, the risk of miscarriage and birth defects are greater.
Dioxin is a fat-soluble chemical and is found in fat, intestines and dairy products. The public are advised to eat vegetables which may help to expel dioxin.

Eating high fiber, fresh vegetables and fruit such as bananas and oranges may help to metabolize fat soluble substances, such as dioxins in the gut.

The government is in the forefront, there has not been enough chlorination and another problem is that our waste management is also problematic.
Environmental groups reckon that over the past 12 years TIwan has seen four incidents of poultry polluted with dioxins and has not managed the source of the problem which is the incineration or uncontrolled burning of PVC plastic, ink and other substances. Currently, CAS certification does not include dioxins. Council of Agriculture Minister Lin Tsong-hsien has indicated that eggs will be included in dioxin checks to stop the loophole.

國內傳出有雞蛋被檢出戴奧辛,讓食品安全再次蒙上陰影。有醫師表示,戴奧辛是脂溶性化學物質,很常存在於肥肉、內臟等食品中,如果民眾吃進這類食品,可能導致皮膚病變、甚至是癌症。尤其是孕婦,更可能會因此流產或是生出畸型兒。因此要建議民眾多吃一些蔬果,可以加速排出戴奧辛。
幾乎每天都會吃到的雞蛋,被檢出含有一級致癌物「戴奧辛」,引發食安恐慌!醫師表示,戴奧辛在體內,半衰期有7年,如果短時間之內、高量暴露,會引發皮膚病變,如果是長期、低量暴露,也可能導致癌症,對孕婦來說,也很危險[CG]]。

政府在源頭 去氯化做得不夠
另外一個問題就是
他們在廢棄物的管理 也出了問題
有環保團體認為,最近12年來,台灣已經出現大約4次,禽類受戴奧辛汙染的案件,政府對汙染源頭,以及像PVC塑膠、油墨等廢棄物燃燒,管制不夠確實,應該改進。至於目前,CAS認證並沒有將「戴奧辛」列入檢驗,農委會主委林聰賢已經指示,將把蛋品戴奧辛列入常規檢驗,試圖補破網。
