LEGISLATURE ISSUES JOINT STATEMENT ON HAGUE RULING|南海仲裁案 立院共同聲明:一概不承認

On July 15, the Legislative Yuan was in session for 10 hours, which finally ended around midnight and 104 bills were passed. The Kuomintang successfully prevented the Democratic Progressive Party from passing the third reading of the "Illegal Party Asset Draft Bill". Meanwhile, the Legislative Yuan also made a statement on the Hague's South China Sea Arbitration ruling. The last legislative session took a long time. The only issue that all parties agreed on was their opposition to the Hague's South China Sea Arbitration ruling. President of the Legislative Yuan Su Jia-chyuan made a joint statement with all parties during the session. == SU JIA-CHYUAN, President of the Legislative Yuan == No matter what reasons, the Republic of China will neither acknowledge any country's claims and occupations on the South China Sea islands and nearby waters nor any partial decision made by an international arbitration. A joint statement was formulated by Kuomintang, Democratic Progressive Party, and the New Power Party delegations. As well as three main points, the statement also emphasized that the R.O.C. cannot accept the Hague's reference to the R.O.C. as "China, Taiwan". In other business, in order not to let the Illegal Party Asset Draft Bill pass the third reading, the KMT legislators made objection votes to every bill on July 15. Both the KMT and DPP shouted slogans and declared their positions before the session ended. 106 bills were passed in this session, which was a record. The DPP put Illegal Party Asset Draft Bill on the list for the ad hoc session agenda.
