Funeral Parlor Operators Arrested for Intimidation 屏東掃蕩不法 殯葬蟑螂惡形惡狀被逮

Pingtung Police has busted a ring of so-called "funeral cockroaches," who intimidated ambulance drivers and emergency room personnel in order to win business. 

The door was locked but the police heard movement behind the door when they came to investigate. The officer rushed to the back alley and found a suspect squatting inside whispering, suspected of notifying his colleagues.

Police: “What are you running for? Come out!”

The police received a tip that a group saw business opportunities for funerals and burials and set up their own funeral parlor company. To gain business as soon as possible, they sent people to intimidate private ambulance operators and even hospitals' emergency room medical staff with violence and other means.

Yeh Hsien-wei, Squadron Chief, Pingtung Precinct: “Information on OHCA (no breathing and heartbeat before arriving at the hospital) and patients leaving the hospital to return home to pass away must be passed on to them so they can take over the follow-up funeral matters.”

The underworld also covets earthmoving business opportunities. Police received information that a man surnamed Huang in Pingtung's Hengchun was suspected of intimidating local construction company owners into joining and paying membership fees to an industry association he established himself.

Yeh Shih-chieh, Deputy Commander, Criminal Inves. Div., Pingtung County Police Bureau: “(Total arrested) We targeted three people and 21 accomplices. A total of 12 cases with 77 people as part of a street fight and six cases of six people were arrested for violating firearms, ammunition, and knives Regulations.”

At least 150 police officers have been mobilized for seven consecutive days of sweeps starting on the 22nd in Pingtung County. Nearly 20 illegal incidents such as street fights have been uncovered. The police emphasized "zero tolerance for gangs" and anti-criminal work will continue.

警方接獲線報，有集團看準殯葬商機，自組禮儀公司，為了第一時間接件，長期派人恐嚇民間救護車業者甚至是醫院急診室的醫護人員，若有人命危要立刻通知，否則動用暴力，連信號彈都是威脅的工具。

屏東警分局偵查隊長葉憲威指:「OHCA（到院前沒有呼吸心跳）以及要從醫院轉院回家拔管相關患者的消息必須要跟他們通知，以便他們來接手後續的殯葬事宜。」

黑道覬覦的還有土方商機，警方掌握屏東恆春一名黃姓主嫌覬覦土方清運商機，自行成立工會還要求各地營建工程負責人都得加入並付費，不從就暴力相向，還會派人跟蹤被害人，讓對方心生恐懼。

屏東縣刑大副大隊長葉士傑說:「 （共查獲）治平的目標3名，共犯21名，街頭鬥毆的部份總共12件77人，並偵破違反槍砲彈藥刀械管制條例6件、6人。」

屏東縣22日起動員至少150名員警，連續7天大掃蕩，破獲近20件街頭鬥毆等不法事件，警方強調「幫派零容忍」，掃黑工作不會鬆懈。
