RELOCATION OF SONGSHAN AIRPORT UNLIKELY FOR NEXT DECADE: PROFESSOR|北市再提搬松機 民航局:20年內不可能

The relocation of Taipei Songshan Airport has long been in discussion. On June 8, Taipei Deputy Mayor Charles Lin stated that the relocation would free the sky over Taipei City. Lin Kuo-shian, the Director General of the Civil Aeronautics Administration, responded that more public discussion must be made as the relocation would affect those who rely on the airport to travel back and forth Hualien, Taitung, and outlying islands.
Taipei Songshan Airport (TSA) used to be Taiwan's main gateway for destinations overseas. After Taoyuan International Airport was put into operation, TSA only served domestic flights or flights to nearby overseas cities. Now that Taoyuan Airport MRT has been put into service, Taipei City Government believed the relocation of TSA should be considered.

Taipei City Government believes that if TSA is replaceable, the once main international airport in the 1950s should serve the next purpose: adjusting the cost that's eating into its contributions.
Lin stated that the city government would plan for an urban forest park in this area after TSA is relocated. Lin Kuo-shian, the Director General of the Civil Aeronautics Administration, emphasized that the CAA will execute the relocation once a clear policy is formulated.

Each year, 2.8 million trips are made to TSA. These trips are an issue that cannot be solved through a simple discussion. We believe that this is an issue of public policy that can and must be discussed, but it may take a long period of time to communicate the ideas before the final decision can be made.

TSA serves the function for national defense, rescue operations, transportation to outlying islands, and business trips. Relocation is not that easy. It is unlikely at least for the next ten years because Taoyuan Airport's Terminal 3 is still under construction.
Professor Chang stated that the relocation will not be possible anytime soon and that no professional evaluation report has been made so far. He believed that the relocation should not be decided by politics.

松山機場是否要遷移,這個議論討論已久,今天舉行的「2017桃園機場國際論壇」上,台北市副市長林欽榮再提台北市的立場,他認為遷移松山機場可讓台北天空解嚴,而民航局長林國顯表示,必須要考量到1年280萬,往返花東離島的民眾,這是公共政策的議題需要討論。

林欽榮指出,移走松山機場,空出來的土地,北市府會規劃運用,打造成都會所需要的森林公園,而民航局長林國顯會議上認為,就實際面來看,20年內不可能,但林國顯也強調,這個議題討論已久,只要政策明確,民航局都會配合執行。

學者直言,松山機場10年內不可能搬遷,而且也尚未看到相關的專業評估報告,並認為松山機場的遷移,不該淪為政治決策,應該由專業來主導。
