Workers at a Belgian marketing firm is trying to replace existing ID cards with RFID implants, which are similar to those used in pets. It may be convenient for those forgetful employees, but the controversial devices raise questions about personal security.
A man walks up to a door, waves his hand in front of a scanner and the door opens. Welcome to the future. This is not a promo for a sci-fi movie, but an office in Belgium.
Employees of marketing and technology company NewFusion have voluntarily agreed to have a small glass tube, a Radio Frequency Identification chip, placed inside their hands. Right now, people carry separate keys and chip cards in their wallets, and what they want to do is to reverse this logic.

If we can turn that around and say alright, this is my identity, which they would connect to you instead of the other way around, then we should have an ideal world. I'm not going to state that everybody should have a chip, but it would be an ideal situation if you can unlock everything with one card or one bracelet or one ring. That was our goal.
To expand the chip's applications, software is created and designed to work with it. It is just the start of the brave new connected world.

So you just scan your chip and you get your personal information, your favorite Spotify track gets added to the office playlist so your music is combined to the others so everybody has their choice. It brings up your to-do-list, just like a personalized dashboard.
However, not everyone is convinced that such a permanent addition to human bodies is wise.

Technology moves fast and actually this is the same reason why when you are doing up a house it is not clever to build in all the latest tech into the walls into the floor and everything, because in three years it is all out of date. Same thing applies to stuff you put in your body in three years it is out of date.
Currently, NewFusion has no plans to promote the electronic chip on the market because of privacy and security concerns. Their installation of the chip not only opens people's minds for technology, but also proves that technology knows no boundaries.
