NATIONAL PALACE MUSEUM HAS WORST AIR QUALITY AMONG CULTURAL FACILITIES|

The Cabinet's Consumer Protection Commission has taken steps to conduct indoor air quality, building and fire inspections at 15 cultural exhibition centers throughout Taiwan. In conclusion, National Palace Museum has the worst in door air quality levels, with carbon-dioxide concentration exceeding the legal threshold. The NPM says they will overcome this problem starting by limiting the number of people inside the museum. The Executive Yuan's Consumer Protection Commission conducted inspections at 15 cultural exhibition centers in Taiwan, and found out that the National Palace Museum has the worst in door air quality level, with an average carbon dioxide concentration of 1488 parts per million (ppm), exceeding the legal threshold of 1000ppm. ==VISITORS== It's a little bit stuffy. (Why?) Just a lot of people cramming in that area, taking up all the oxygen. ==VISITOR== It's a bit suffocating at the national treasure exhibition located on the third floor. ==HSU SHU-CHIH EPA Air Qlty. Protec. and Noise Ctl. Dept. Sr. Exec. Ofc.== If the CO2 concentration is too high, you will begin to feel dizzy and experience difficulty in breathing, or even have hot flashes. It'll be uncomfortable for sensitive people. The NPM says, during the New Year long weekend or special holidays, when there are a lot of visitors, indoor air quality is often affected. As such, they have already allocated budget to improve indoor air conditioning. Meanwhile, they will also limit the number of people going in and out of the museum. ==HUANG HSUAN-CHENG, NPM Security office Director== We will limit the number of people inside the museum to 2500. When it exceeds 2500 people we will begin to implement controlling procedures. When one person is out, then we'll allow another person to go in. In the future, places such as museums or theaters will all be regulated under the Indoor Air Quality Management Act. There will be fines up to NT$250,000 if carbon dioxide levels are found to exceed the limit. In addition, the inspections also found the Kaohsiung Museum of Fine Arts had two damaged fire hoses while the National Museum of History had an insufficient number of fire extinguishers. However, all found issues have all since been resolved. TRANSLATED BY:STELLA TU
