KLR Suspended for 26 Minutes Due to Trespassing Car 又傳有車誤闖 高雄輕軌一度停駛26分鐘

The Kaohiung light rail was suspended for nearly an hour on Nov. 9, it was a result of a vehicle trespassing through track C20 and C21A. Taxis were dispatched to assist and tranport passengers. This was the second similar incident in two weeks.
 

Around six or seven people including Gushan precinct Neiwei Police Station officers, KRT police, and KRT staff pushed hard to get the car out of the tracks. This white vehicle trespassed into the new section of Kaohsiung light rail between track C20 and C21A on the night of Nov. 8, resulting in the light rail being suspended for 26 minutes while taxis were dispatched to transport the passengers. This was the second time in two weeks. At the end of October, a car recklessly trespassed the light rail on Gushan District's Meishu East 4th Road, resulting in it being suspended for 42 minutes.

Citizen: “It just started so people are not very clear. But honestly, that intersection is not labeled clearly, so out-of-towners may not be able to discern the roads very well.”

Back to the section that was trespassed on Nov. 8, there is a light rail sign at the crossroads but no warning light on the straight intersection. The driver who came from Tainan was unfamiliar with the road conditions so the incident occurred. However, Kaohsiung Metro noted that the warnings along the route are sufficient. Hence, the two accidents were unrelated to the light rail equipment or warning signs.

Wang Po-yan, Director of Public Affairs Dept., Kaohsiung Rapid Transit Corp.: “These two cars trespassed onto the railway tracks when there were no trains; however, due to them being there, it delayed our trains' passing. Thus at those times, for safety concerns, the trains were suspended at such sections.”

The Kaohsiung Rapid Transit urged drivers to look at the signs carefully and pay more attention to "No Left" or "No Right Turn" signs when driving near the Light Rail roads. If people's negligence results in light rail suspension or being hit, KRTC will claim damages in accordance with the law.
 

鼓山分局內惟派出所員警、捷運警察、捷運公司員工6到7人，努力將車推出軌道，這輛白色汽車，8日晚間闖入輕軌新通車路段的C20到C21A站之間，導致該路段輕軌停駛約26分鐘，並出動計程車接駁旅客。而這已經是兩週內第2次，因為10月底，鼓山區美術東四路也有汽車誤入，造成輕軌一度停駛42分鐘。

民眾說：「就是剛開始，然後大家都還不清楚，但是說真的，因為像那邊的那個路口，它也沒有標示的很清楚，然後有些人也是從外地來的或是什麼，也會不會說那麼好判辨。」

重回8日遭誤闖的路段，十字路口有輕軌圖示，但靠近直行路口這個方向沒有警示燈，疑似又碰上駕駛是台南人不熟悉路況才會誤入。不過高捷表示，沿線該有的警示都有做足，兩次誤闖都跟輕軌設備、警示號誌無關。

高捷公共事務處長王柏雁說明：「這兩起當時侵入到軌道的時候，都是軌道上面沒有列車的狀態，不過因為它們在軌道上面的延遲時間，是有影響到我們列車的通行，那在這個當下的話，安全起見，列車在該路段是停止行駛的。」

高捷呼籲駕駛，行經輕軌路段務必仔細看清楚號誌，也留意是否禁止左右轉，若因民眾個人疏失造成輕軌停駛或被撞等損失，高捷公司都會依法求償。
