Following the Kaohsiung chemical plant outbreak, an outbreak was reported at a tech plant in New Taipei City with 10 cases so far. A Keelung police detective has also tested positive.
A new cluster infection is being reported at a Shulin technology plant with 10 migrant workers testing positive so far. The plant is being disinfected.
Hou Yu-ih, New Taipei City Mayor: “Yesterday evening, a foreign worker tested positive at a Shulin technology plant. A total of 208 (plant workers) were tested with nine results coming back positive.”
A Keelung police detective has also tested positive.
Wu Ho-ching, Deputy Chief, Keelung First Precinct: “One of our people accompanied a friend to the hospital on the 24th. Both of them later tested positive.”
Of the cases at the Kaohsiung chemical plant, 13 were breakthrough infections. One expert says getting fully vaccinated is very important.
Lee Ping-ing, Advisor, Central Epidemic Command Center: “The majority are mild or asymptomatic. Very few need to be hospitalized. In other words, it is still pretty important to get vaccinated.”
Taiwan has ordered two million Novavax vaccines from COVAX. One expert says Novavax is a protein-based vaccine like Medigen and is suitable as any dose for chemically sensitive people.
Huang Li-min, Honorary Chair, Infectious Diseases Society of Taiwan: “It is the most effective among protein-based vaccines in clinical trials with efficacy of almost 90 percent against the original Wuhan virus. However, it is probably only 50-60 percent effective against Omicron. Regardless, it is another and possibly safer choice of vaccine.”
The Central Epidemic Command Center says local governments are contact tracing.
位在新北市樹林區的某科技廠，25日週五傳出有10位職場員工PCR採檢陽性，目前工廠正進行全面清消作業。
新北市長侯友宜說：「新北市在昨天傍晚，在樹林某科技廠裡面，傳出有一名外籍移工確診個案，總共採了208人（同廠同事），在今天早上9點鐘整個採檢結果出來，確定又增加9名陽性確診個案。」
另外也傳出基隆第一分局偵查隊員陽性確診。
基隆第一分局副分局長吳合謦表示：「本分局偵查隊一名刑事同仁，於本月24日晚間，陪同友人至醫院就醫，其友人經醫院篩檢結果為陽性確診，隨後該名同仁篩檢結果亦為陽性。」
由於日前爆發高雄化工廠職場群聚事件中，13位確診個案都是突破性感染，有專家提醒，本土疫情雖然趨緩，但台灣還是沒有放鬆的本錢，疫苗要趕快打好打滿。
疫情指揮中心專家諮詢小組委員李秉穎說：「大部分都是輕症或無症狀感染，只有很少數是需要住院的情形，表示說打疫苗還是蠻重要的。」
另外，我國向COVAX洽購的200萬劑NOVAVAX疫苗，可望於近期到貨。專家表示，美國科技大廠NOVAVAX疫苗，與高端一樣都屬於次單位蛋白疫苗，適合用於過敏、有不良反應的人，第1到3劑都可以打。
台灣感染症醫學會名譽理事長黃立民說明：「它是目前蛋白疫苗效果最好的，它的臨床試驗在針對武漢株的時候，是接近九成。可是我們預期它針對Omicron，它會降下來，到五到六成。不管怎麼樣，它是一個目前在你可以選擇疫苗裡面安全係數高，然後效果又好的一個疫苗。」
對此疫情指揮中心回應表示，地方衛生局正在疫調中。
