Atopic Dermatitis Patient Gets NT$5,000 Compensation for Medigen Vaccine 首例高端受害救濟 嘉市個案皮膚搔癢獲5千

The first compensation claim related to the Medigen Vaccine has been finalized, who is a Chiayi resident and received NT$5,000 for experiencing itches on the skin. Meanwhile, the family of a Tainan resident that died after getting one Moderna vaccine received NT$300,000.

A certain percentage of Taiwanese people are choosing Medigen for their booster shot because they believe Medigen has fewer side effects. After getting the second Medigen shot last October, the condition of a Chiayi resident with atopic dermatitis worsened. They were the first person in Taiwan to receive injury compensation for a Medigen vaccine.

Liao Yu-wei, Director, Department of Health, Chiayi City："Mid-November (last year), we helped the vaccine victim file for compensation. On Jan. 13, the victim was granted compensation of NT$5,000."

A Tainan resident with diabetes that got a Moderna shot last July and began experiencing chest pain, aches and pains, respiratory distress, and loss of consciousness the very next day ultimately died, with the cause of death presumed to be heart disease. Their family was awarded NT$300,000 compensation.

Lin Hsiao-mei, Section Chief, Public Health Bureau, Tainan City："The cause of death could be everything from psychogenic stroke to heart disease. The bureau helped report adverse events and apply for injury relief. We have not gotten any official response to date. If it's approved, we will follow the resolution of our expert panel."

Adverse effects from vaccines have been reported all over Taiwan, with Chiayi County alone filing 84 claims. The two that have been approved so far both involved AZ. Despite all this, municipal governments are urging everyone to get vaccinated as soon as possible.
 

本土疫情還沒退燒，讓各縣市疫苗施打都很踴躍，有不少民眾打第3劑追加劑時、會選擇高端，但嘉義市一個本身有異位性皮膚炎的民眾，去年10月初打完高端第2劑後，出現皮膚搔癢，雖無法確定皮膚癢跟打疫苗的關聯性，但依相關審議辦法，他被核予5千元救濟金，成為台灣首例高端救濟個案。
 
嘉義市政府衛生局長 廖育瑋表示：「我們在(去年)11月中旬的時候，有幫忙送件申請，這個疫苗受害救濟的申請，那在1月13號會議紀錄有提到，會給予這個救濟金5千元。」

除了嘉義市，台南也一個有糖尿病等慢性病史的民眾，去年7月中打莫德納第1劑後，隔天出現胸痛、全身痠痛，甚至呼吸困難而失去意識，最後不幸死亡的個案，判斷死因可能是心血管疾病，雖無法確定跟打疫苗有沒有關係，但也核予30萬救濟金。

台南衛生局疾管科長 林曉玫表示：「死亡原因，為心因性休克、心血管疾病等。本局接獲之後，協助通報不良反應，並協助申請藥害救濟。目前尚未收到正式審議結果，如果收到，會按照專家會議決議辦理。」

其實各縣市都有打疫苗後出現不良反應的個案，光嘉義縣送中央做救濟審議的就有84件，已確定獲賠的2件都是打AZ，但縣府還是呼籲民眾還是要打疫苗，減少重症可能性，給自己多一層保護。
