MOFA Condemns Chinese Report on Somaliland

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has dismissed a report by China's state-run Global Times that claimed Taiwan has been bribing individuals in countries like Somaliland and the U.S. to facilitate bilateral relations. The Ministry said it's fake news spread by media affiliated with the shameless Chinese government.

Joanne Ou, Ministry of Foreign Affairs Spokesperson:"The Chinese government's Global Times published an untrue report on Oct. 11 about Somaliland and the Taiwan-US relationship. The report is entirely fabricated and baseless. It is an attempt to discredit and smear Taiwan. We severely condemn the Chinese state media and their public dissemination of fake news and urge other countries to ignore them."

MOFA said Taiwan and Somaliland have promoted programs including agriculture, information communications, education, and medical care since mutually establishing trade representative offices in 2020. All of these plans are transparent and legal. It also sincerely thanked Lithuania for its donation of vaccines, saying it treasures this friendship.
