Hailed as one of the seven most anticipated parks in the world, " The Spring" in Tainan City, opened to the public on March 7. However, within a few days of its opening, the park has sustained significant damage: some have vandalized the lamps near the pond, while pet owners have allowed their pets to urinate in the pond.
The base portions of the lamps have been broken. We're trying to reinforce this area.
The broken lamps in the park have been restored after an emergency maintenance effort by staff members. The staff has also erected warning signs to raise the public attention on the matter. "The Spring", which is a park in Tainan City and hailed by a media outlet as one of the seven most anticipated parks in the world, recently opened to pubic last Saturday. However, following a mere three days after its opening, several lamps near the pond have been damaged by the public.
Breaking decorative lamps shows a lack of social responsibility.
I wouldn't do something like this. After all, the park has just been completed, and (the lamps) are pieces of art, I wouldn't damage them at all.
The park also features a shallow pond that's built to allow parents to play with their children. However, some pet owners have allowed their pets to urinate in the pond. Some also stayed in the park till after 11pm, way after the park's closing time at 10, and made a ruckus which affected nearby residents. The mess at the park has prompted Tainan Mayor Huang Wei-cher to heavily criticize the public for a lack of social responsibility.
I am really shocked by the lack of social responsibility of some of the public. They just sit wherever they want, and make damage and throw trash at the pond at will. To be frank, this shows their low public morals. What they have done will not help to contribute to the park or to the appearance of the park in the eyes of the public.
Some among the public have expressed concern over the quality of the water in the pond after the urinating incident. The Tainan City government said that the running water in the pond is cleaned once a day, and it will adjust the cleaning schedule if needed. The city also said it will enforce parking regulations to prevent some visitors from parking their vehicles at will around the area.
