FDA Orders "Preventive Recall" of Asbestos Cosmetics|5款台代工化妝品疑含石綿 預防性下架

The Ministry of Health and Welfare Food and Drug Administration recently received warnings from the United States and Canada that five foreign-branded beauty products contract manufactured in Taiwan possibly contain asbestos. The administration has asked local health bureaus to launch an investigation and started "preventive" recalls.
This biotech company in Tainan contract manufactures beauty products. Asbestos, which is a carcinogen, was recently found in five of the company's products. The Food and Drug Administration has ordered a "preventive" recall.
Production halted in 2017, but because the products have not yet expired, we are concerned some people might have purchased the products in Europe or North America and brought them back to Taiwan. We are stepping up inspections in the market.
The administration was unaware of the problem until it was notified by its US and Canadian counterparts. US and Canadian health authorities found asbestos, which is banned in cosmetics, in five of the Taiwan-manufactured products including eye shadow and face powder.Asbestos is a Group 1 carcinogen.
Four of the products didn't make it into the domestic market. The fifth one may be available, so we have asked health agencies with jurisdiction to investigate.
Once absorbed into the body, asbestos will cause mesothelium tumors in the lungs and lung cancer, not to mention asbestosis. Some people also think direct contact with the skin can also lead to (cancer).
The administration says it has asked local health agencies to investigate and find out where the asbestos originated and if any of the products are being sold domestically. If they are, the company will face fines of NT$20,000 to NT$5 million. The administration also says anyone that purchased any of the products overseas should stop using them immediately.
就是這家位在台南市的生技公司，工廠生產的保養彩妝等化妝品，專門以代工外銷為主，不過卻被驗出有5款化妝品，疑似含有致癌成分，被我國食藥署要求、立即啟動預防性下架。
台南市衛生局綜合企劃科 林美良表示：「106年就已經停產了，可是因為它還在這個產品的效期裡面，所以說，我們也怕說，有一些人從歐美帶回來這些化妝品，會在市面上來加強稽查。」
食藥署表示，日前接獲美國及加拿大國際化妝品警訊，發現台灣代工製造的5款化妝品，包括眼影、粉餅、彩妝及修容盤等五項化妝品，疑似含有化妝品禁用的石綿成分。由於石綿屬於一級致癌物，長期吸入或接觸、恐怕有罹癌風險。
食藥署醫妝組簡任技正 黃維生表示：「前四項產品的部分呢，是沒有到國內來流通，那最後一項產品，疑似有在國內流通，所以呢，我們請所轄的衛生局，已經著手來進行調查。」
台北榮總毒物科醫師 楊振昌表示：「吸入會導致肺部的間皮細胞瘤，還有肺癌、還有石綿肺症，另外皮膚接觸也有人認為，可能會有啦！」
食藥署強調，已委請地方衛生局進行調查，了解石綿從何而來，以及問題化妝品是否流入國內市場等，一旦發現違規產品在台販售，將依法開罰兩萬到五百萬元罰鍰，同時提醒民眾，若有從美加等國家購買問題產品，應立即停用。
