Wenxin Road Voted Worst Road in Taichung|網路票選台中爛路 文心路獲"爛路王"

Wenxin Road, which is one of the main roads in Taichung has been voted Taichung's worst road in an online poll. Due to the poor state of the road, many accidents occur. Many people say, they have to be extra careful when driving on Wenxin Road.


The surface of Taichung's Wenxin Road is pitted and uneven. Many sections of the road have been dug up and refilled, and most scooter drivers steer clear of the slow lane. Although Wenxin Road is one of Taichung's busiest roads, it is in terrible condition and a subject of many complaints.

Wenxin Road was recently voted the worst road in Taichung. The road has caused many injuries due its poor state of repair. The Taichung City Maintenance Office blames MRT construction.

There is currently MRT construction going on on Wenxin Road. Because they are rushing to finish construction, we can't work on the road all at once. We are therefore smoothing the surface section by section.

The office says the city has allocated NT$5.4 billion to smoothing 500 kilometers of road surface over four years and Wenxin Road is in such a poor state because of MRT construction. However, Gongyi Road, Zhongming South Road and other major thoroughfares also made the "worst roads" list and many residents say the city government needs to reevaluate its road smoothing project.
