RELOCATION SURVEY GIVES HOPE TO DALINPU RESIDENTS|工廠空汙嚴重 高雄大林蒲遷村普查啟動

Air pollution has been a serious problem in the Talin Pu area of Kaohsiung's Siaogang District, because it's surrounded by oil refineries and steel mills. Therefore, the Kaohsiung city government initiated a resident relocation survey to 11 thousand 640 households yesterday which will last for about three months. However, local residents are unhappy with the relocation plans. The relocation of Talin Pu is becoming a strong possibility. On March 6, Kaohsiung City Government initiated a relocation survey. But just one day later, local residents started raising doubts. City government officials called a press conference and announced three compensation options. ==LEE YI-DER Dir., Kaohsiung City Govt. Urban Development Bur.== The first option is cash. The second option is land exchange, as described by residents one ping for one ping, an appeal for land exchange. The third option is living units in buildings. These three options will be different based on individual conditions and will change accordingly. The city government emphasized, they must ensure residents' willingness on relocation, then proceed with evaluations on real estates and buildings; finally the amount of compensation will be determined. By then, residents can choose one of three optioned offered. Local residents are doubtful on the city government, saying the authority offers one ping for one ping, but the survey wrote real estate exchange with purchase, and no illustration meeting was held. == HUNG HSIU-CHU Leader, Healthy Mamas== The real estate price here is NT$50,000 a ping. I don't think they were. The officials just told us to check on the contents of general survey, item by item. Kaohsiung City Government said the illustration meetings were the surveys done from one household to another, no public meeting was held. Local residents worry they will not be able to participate in public discussions prior to making decisions. Local residents decide that they will observe the surveys, if doubts arise, they are to boycott and terminate the surveys.
