The world's first largest passenger aircraft will soon begin receiving visitors on the ground. The Airbus 380 was the first of its kind to offer two decks and more than 40 percent extra cabin space than standard aircraft. Now the original test aircraft is being converted into an exhibit at the Museum of Air and Space in France, which will open to the public in 2018.
Touching down at the Museum of Air and Space, this particular Airbus A380 is making its final flight. In 2018, it will be open to the public as a modern aviation exhibit within France's Paris-Le Bourget airport.

For us it's a second life that we give to the aircraft. We would like to provoke many, many other vocations in aeronautics because we know that in France there are many people which are passionate by heart for this business.
Carrying a maximum of 853 passengers, the double-deck, wide-body Airbus A380 is the largest commercial passenger jet airliner in the world. It has flown over 30 years of flight tests, and kicked off what is now a huge commercial success for the Airbus brand.
The new exhibit on the passenger jet will focus on its past and the future. Visitors will be able to learn about flight tests and how the prototype developed over time. They will also be prompted to think about the future development of the aircraft, taking environmental issues into consideration.
==CATHERINE MAUNOURY Director, Museum of Air and Space==
A museum is something that shows the history. But it does not only show the past. It also shows the present and thinks about the future. As a matter of fact, here in the museum there are phantoms, people who imagined everything that happens today.
Besides A380 MSN4, airbus planes such as A320 MSN1, A340-600 MSN360 and A380 MSN2 will form the exhibit. This A380 will undergo 12 months of refurbishment before opening to the public in 2018.
