KMT CAUCUS URGES HUNG: 'ONE CHINA, DIFFERENT INTERPRETATIONS'|藍立院黨團籲洪 與習會面表達"一中各表"

Hung-Xi Meeting, which is the meeting between KMT Chairwomen Hung Hsiu-chiu Chinese Communist Party leader Xi Jingping is scheduled for November. However, the Kuomintang Legislative caucus went to their central party headquarters on Oct.18 and asked if Hung can find an appropriate time to mention the 'one China, different interpretations' stance, and not just mention the 1992 consensus. After a two hour meeting, there was no conclusion and Hung emphasized that the focus of the meeting would be on the 'peace platform' as opposed to the Democratic Progressive Party's independence platform. Cross strait relations are at a standstill but the Kuomintang and Chinese Communist Party meeting is still set to go ahead for November. KMT Chair Hung Hsiu-chiu's meeting with Chinese Communist Party leader Xi Jinping is set to focus on a peace platform. Hung has in the past advocated 'one China, same interpretation' and her advocacy of 'KMT peace platform' has worried KMT legislators. They are anxious that she may only mention the 1992 consensus and not the 'one China, separate interpretations'. Twenty-six legislators and the KMT party caucus went to central party headquarters to meet with Hung. ==LIAO KUO-TUNG KMT legislative caucus convener== There has to be a 'one China, different interpretations behind the 1992 consensus on the peace platform. Without that interpretation there can be no 1992 consensus. However, after two hours of discussion, the two sides only came to an agreement on party contributions. Whether Hung will specifically mention 'one China, different interpretations' the caucus and the central party, as usual, seem out of step. The dispute over the party line prior to the Hung-Xi meeting appears to be heating up. If Hung appears to be uncompromising, the caucus will plan a response for the next caucus meeting.
