KARAOKE MACHINES BANNED FROM COACHES FOR SAFETY|遊覽車公會決議 廢除車上卡拉OK裝置

Karaoke machines will no longer be available on tour coaches. In the wake of the coach fire incident last month, electrical installations on buses have raised safety concerns. The National Joint Association of Tourists Buses has called a board meeting and decided to eliminate karaoke machines on board coaches. Existing machines will be removed, and new coaches will not be allowed to install them. It is commonplace for tour buses in Taiwan to have karaoke machines installed for the entertainment of passengers. There are over 17,000 tour buses in Taiwan, and about 70% of them are equipped with karaoke machines. While prosecutors have yet to determine the cause of the coach fire, safety concerns have been raised regarding electrical installations on board buses. ==ALEX LU, Chairman== We asked bus operators to report their electrical installations on buses, and we found that karaoke machines or TV sets that use fancy speakers can use up a lot of electricity. Some bus operators, though, worry that this decision may impact their business. == HSU HAO-YUAN, GM, e-go Car Rental Travel Group== Retired people over 50 or 60 years old really enjoy their karaoke machines when they take a trip to other cities in Taiwan. I think this is a rash decision. In addition to karaoke machines, buses will no longer be allowed to install drinking fountains, either. The decision has been announced in an official letter to all local tour bus associations. The National Association will compile their members' opinions on the implementation of the decision and report to the MOTC.
