Ill-gotten Party Assets bill finally passed / 立院表決大戰 不當黨產條例三讀通過　　　　　　　　　　

On July 25, the Legislative Yuan passed the third reading of the Ill-gotten Political Party Assets bill after an 11-hour review. All property obtained after 1945 is to be considered illegal. A committee on handling ill-gotten political party assets was also set up under the Legislative Yuan to enforce the act. During the press conference, the KMT said it was the darkest day in Taiwan's democracy. However, the DPP believes that this is the first step for transitional justice. The Legislative Yuan passed the third reading of Ill-gotten Political Party Assets bill at 8:26 p.m. Starting from the second reading, the KMT countered the bill with a 650,000 word motion to amend. The KMT based its argument on the constitution in hopes of turning the tide. However, they failed because of a lack of legislative seats. The act was named "Handling of Ill-gotten Property by Political Parties and Their Affiliated Organizations". A committee on handling ill-gotten political party assets was set up under the Legislative Yuan. All property obtained after 1945 is to be considered illegal and must be returned to the state, and the information be made available to the public. There will be penalties for violating the act. ==LU YU-LING, KMT legislator== The committee is under the Executive Yuan, which means the Premier of the Executive Yuan can directly issue related executive orders.
