Yunlin's Sky Bridge Vandalized over Long Weekend 北港「天空之橋」遭噴漆塗鴉 警採指紋抓人

Yunlin's Sky Bridge was vandalized over the long weekend. The local borough chief filed a police report and hopes police can identify the culprit from a can of spray paint left behind at the scene.

Workers remove the spray paint from the wall. Beigang's Sky Bridge, an award-winning structure, was defaced with a pig head, hearts, and writing over the long weekend.

Beigang Resident: “It looks terrible. I hope no outside tourists see this.”

Hsu Chia-fu, Gongguan Borough Chief: “There is no CCTV footage available. They left a can of spray paint behind at the scene. I asked the police to try to get fingerprints from the can to see if they can identify the culprit.”

The Beigang Township Office says the bridge was constructed from the remains of Taisugar's rail tracks and the design was created by architectural concrete. The bridge isn't long, but is unique. The office plans to put up warning signs and may install security cameras if the vandalism continues.

Hsiao Mei-wen, Acting Beigang Township Chief: “We will first put up a warning sign at Daughter Bridge and Sky Bridge. If there is a public consensus to maintain the structure, there shouldn't be a problem going forward. If this happens again, we will consider installing security cameras.”

Cleaning professionals were hired to remove the spray paint without damaging the bridge. The Yunlin County Environmental Protection Bureau says the perpetrator will face a fine of NT$1,200 to NT$6,000 under the Waste Disposal Act if caught.

北港民眾說：「這樣看觀感就不好，讓外地觀光客看到就很不好。」

北港公館里里長許家福表示：「在沒監視器的情況下，剛好有一瓶噴漆留在現場，我是麻煩警方這邊用噴漆來做指紋，用指紋來查辦這樣。」

北港鎮公所表示，天空之橋利用廢棄多年的台糖鐵道，打造出天空廊道，使用清水模構成的極簡建築與造型相疊，橋雖不長但很有特色，未來將先加設警示牌，也不排除加裝監視器以維護環境。

北港鎮代理鎮長蕭美文指出：「先來做警示牌在我們女兒橋跟天空之橋，那未來的話各方面大家對於維護的建築，各方面有共識的話，我們這個區塊上就應該沒有什麼問題，萬一還是沒辦法改善的話，我們再考慮是不是要裝設監視器。」

北港鎮公所表示，為了避免清除過程中，破壞到清水模表面，已先詢問專業人員提供清除方式，而雲林縣環保局則表示，若抓到行為人將可依廢棄物清理法，處1200元以上、6000元以下罰鍰。
