Hospitals around Taiwan began giving staff AZ vaccines on Mar. 22. In light of the many reports of side effects associated with AZ vaccines, Premier Su Tseng-chang and Health and Welfare Minister Chen Shih-chung were the first Cabinet members to get the vaccinated.
At 7:40 a.m., Premier Su Tseng-chang and Health and Welfare Minister Chen Shih-chung got the AZ vaccine at National Taiwan University Hospital.
I did not feel a single bit of pain at the injection site. I am not feeling any pain or soreness. I rested for 30 minutes and I am feeling great.
Taiwan's supply of COVID-19 vaccines has been distributed to 57 hospitals around the island. NTU Hospital got 1,500 vaccines, but only 1,700 of the 8,000 staff surveyed said they were willing to get an AZ vaccine. Central Epidemic Command Center advisor Chang Shan-chwen was among the few NTUH personnel that willingly got the vaccine.

I feel very safe (after getting the shot). When the experts met, everyone was talking about how what's happened in the EU would affect people's willingness to get vaccinated. So, I recommend that certain people with influence step forward to build up confidence (in getting vaccinated).

Our expert panel has had discussions and does not believe, based on available information, that there is anything wrong (with the AZ vaccine). Our domestic standards for vaccination are very, very high.
Last Friday, they told us we could start vaccinating this week. We immediately held an exercise. So, everyone can see that we have 10 (doctors and nurses) sitting there in a row. They are ready.
Chang says mild side effects reported elsewhere in the world are inevitable and experts are the ones with the right to decide whether severe side effects are caused by the vaccine or pure coincidence. The Central Epidemic Command Center maintains AZ vaccines are perfectly safe and also says its standards are extremely high.
