A light aircraft crashed in Pingtung's Sandimen Township on Jan. 7. Firefighters began a rescue mission, only to find that both people on board had been killed.

(Our colleagues) kept smelling burning fuel and found the body of the pilot at 10:06 p.m. Next, the found the wing of the aircraft. The plane was still burning. At 10:10 p.m., they found the body of the second passenger.
Both people on board, the 50-year old pilot surnamed Lin and the 24-year-old passenger surnamed Chen, were killed. Their remains were removed from the crash site later that night and their families notified.
He just wanted the experience. His father wanted to send him to a seven-day flight camp, but he couldn't take that many days off.
The aircraft took off from Gaoshu. Air traffic lost contact with the aircraft when it was flying over Sandimen's glass bridge. A local councilor who operates a landing strip believes the weather was to blame.

Our (light aircrafts) don't have instrument panels like large planes. They rely on visual analysis. So if clouds came down and they couldn't see what was in front of them, the (pilot) may have decided to head back because of the weather.
The Aviation Safety Council is investigating the accident and expects to release a report within three months. It is unknown when the preliminary report will be released.
賽嘉山區飛機殘骸散落四處，屏東三地門7號發生輕航機失事事故，消防局下午先接到失聯通報，派出10車、40人上山搜救，晚上10點多分別找到還在燃燒的飛機跟已經罹難的2人。
屏東縣消防局特搜大隊長 鄭建德表示：「（同仁)隱約有聞到飛機燃油的燒焦味，晚上10點6分，找到第一位。第一位是駕駛，又有看到飛機的翅膀，飛機都燃燒了。在10點10幾分的時候，又找到第二位乘客。」
2名死者分別是50歲林姓駕駛跟24歲陳姓乘客，遺體半夜從事故現場送下山，白天由檢警勘驗，家屬接到通知都難以接受這樣的噩耗。
陳姓乘客母親表示：「他想，說他就去體驗看看，因為本來他爸爸，要讓他去7天的體驗營，但他假排不出來。」
短短20分鐘的體驗行程，想不到人就這樣沒了。根據了解，這台失事的輕航機是從高樹起飛，到三地門琉璃吊橋的時候失聯；出租起降空地給業者的民代推測，意外原因可能是天氣差造成。
屏東縣議員 吳亮慶表示：「我們(輕航機)不是用，像大飛機那種看儀表的。我們(輕航機)是用目測的，目測若雲層降下來的時候，真的看不到前方，看不到前方，所以他(教練)也可能氣候，氣象差，要趕回來。」
事故原因已經由國家運輸安全委員會正式立案調查，也派人到現場了解狀況，預計兩到三個月內可以公布事實調查報告；另外，事故初報要等現場調查人員回來再公布，目前時間還沒確定。
