Double Imprints Face Masks Released Starting Sept. 24|防混充事件重演實名制雙鋼印口罩上路

Starting on September 24, all surgical masks are required to carry the marks "MD" or Medical Device and "Made in Taiwan" in an effort to prevent fraud and confusion.

A pharmacist is explaining what marks "MD" and "Made in Taiwan" embossed on face masks stand for while the customer is examining the product. September 24 is the first day that the masks with new imprints went on sale; however, pharmacies seem not as busy as some experienced in February.

(Do you feel more secured by wearing this double embossed face masks?) I would say yes, to some extent (why is that?) News reported there were a lot of counterfeit masks, but we think we would get some protection as long as we wear one.

I don't think it would make any difference, as long as the masks are produced by the National Mask Team. There shouldn't be anything different.

Following a series of incidents where manufactures were busted for selling Chinese counterfeits of "Made in Taiwan" masks, the government decided to require all face masks made by the National Face Mask Team be printed with the marks, which must be at least 0.4 cm high and located within 1.5 centimeters of the corner of a mask. Each public health center and pharmacy that carries out real-name registration has a daily quota of 1,800 for adults and 200 for children. However, some consumers still get confused after they notice some slight differences in the fonts and placements of the imprints, even those made by the same manufacturer. Pharmacists have to spend time clarifying.

We need to educate the consumer about what marks "MD" and "Made In Taiwan" stand for. They are printed on the bottom right corner in about 80 percent of the face masks sold there while you will see them on the bottom left corner in the rest 20 percent. I think people still have some inventory so you don't witness the long queue for buying masks as in February.

To prevent fraud and confusion, the government resumed its control over the manufacturing and supply of all locally-made face masks starting on September 17, which is expected to last until October 31. In other words, face masks with double imprints will not be available at retailers without carrying out real-name registration during this period. Qualified surgical masks can only be purchased there at the beginning of November at the earliest.

民眾表示：「（雙鋼印，會不會覺得，拿了，戴起來比較安心？) 應該是有多少。(怎麼說？為什麼) 因為上一次，新聞很多什麼假冒的嗎？可是我們想說，有戴就有效。」

民眾表示：「我覺得應該沒差啦！我覺得沒有差，只要是國家口罩隊做的，都應該不會有什麼特別的不一樣。」

中國製非醫用口罩混充國產醫用口罩事件頻傳，為了強化醫療級口罩的辨識度，24日起，全台實名制藥局、衛生所全面提供雙鋼印口罩，每個販售實名制口罩的藥局衛生所，每天會配貨成人1800片、兒童200片，藥師表示，雖然實名制口罩必須逐片在口罩邊緣1.5公分以內標示大於0.4公分的「MD」及「Made In Taiwan」字樣，但由於鋼印的位置、字型都不太一樣，甚至同一家品牌的也可能有所不同，因此得多花點時間來做解釋，才能解除民眾的疑慮。

藥師公會全聯會發言人黃彥儒表示：「要跟民眾衛教雙鋼印是什麼意思？8成的是Made In Taiwan跟MD，都是在口罩的右下角。有2成的部分，是"Made In Taiwan"在右下角，MD在左下角。跟2月比起來，的確都是民眾都會有一些口罩的庫存了，所以現在應該不用像2月那時候，來大排長龍。」

另外，為了防止新舊標示造成混亂，指揮中心也從9月17號起開始恢復國產醫用口罩全面徵用，暫定徵用至10月31日，也就是說這段時間自由市場通路上，都還不會有雙鋼印口罩。最快要到11月起，自由市場通路才能買到盒裝雙鋼印醫用口罩。
