Han's Team Helps KMT Candidate Ahead of Mayoral By-Election|高雄補選倒數 韓團隊將陪李眉蓁掃街

There are rumors that former Mayor Han Kuo-yu could make an appearance to help Jane Lee on the night before the election. DPP candidate Chen Chi-mai said that Lee shouldn't follow Han's footsteps. TPP candidate Wu Yi-jheng said the key qualification shouldn't be supports from any political heavyweights.


On the last and most important Sunday before the upcoming Kaohsiung City mayoral by-election, key officials of the opposition KMT arrived in the city to drum up support for the party's candidate Jane Lee. The officials include former President Ma Ying-jeou, KMT Chairperson Johnny Chiang, New Taipei City Mayor Hou Yu-ih and Taichung Mayor Lu Shiow-yen. Many wonder if former Kaohsiung Mayor Han Kuo-yu would make an appearance to help gain support. And there have been rumors that Han could make an appearance the night before the election. Starting Tuesday, August 11, members of Han's city office will accompany Lee in canvassing the streets.

We all know that Kaohsiung Deputy Mayor Lee Shu-chuan will undergo an operation, so we won't rush him out to support us. As to Deputy Mayor Yeh Kuang-shih, he's quite busy with work and we won't bug him. Therefore, Deputy Mayor Chen Hsiung-wen will lead the city government staff (to canvass the streets). We are still contacting former Mayor Han Kuo-yu and we'll report back to the public if there's any progress.

As the KMT is trying to get Han Kuo-yu to drum up support for their candidate, DPP candidate Chen Chi-mai, said that the Kaohsiung residents have already made their decision when they voted to recall Han on June 6, and that Lee shouldn't follow Han's footsteps or the public will express their opinions with votes too.

Kaohsiung City will have a new start, yet (KMT candidate) Jane Lee is still working with (former Mayor Han's) team members. She's also copying Han's policies. These actions do not meet the expectations of the public.

Wu Yi-jheng, candidate of the Taiwan People's Party arrived with party's chairperson Ko Wen-je at the streets early in the day to gain support from the public. Wu stressed his beliefs to the public, saying that what matters isn't the support from party's heavyweights, but rather one's capabilities to solve real problems for the people.

Many political heavyweights have come to Kaohsiung to drum up support for their candidates. But the important thing is to present real solutions. I'm not here today to gain popularity, I'm here to solve Kaohsiung's real problems. I think this is something that those (from the other parties) have ignored.

The three parties are trying everything they can to gain support. The upcoming election is the third large-scale election in Kaohsiung this year. This has added much work load to staff members of the Kaohsiung City Election Commission as they have been busy publishing election guidelines, preparing and testing the equipment, setting up voting booths while keeping the public up to date with their progress.




選前超級星期天，前總統馬英九、黨主席江啟臣合體同框，再加上侯友宜和盧秀燕兩位國民黨執政縣市首長，南下替李眉蓁衝刺選情，外界更關注，前高雄市長韓國瑜何時現身拉票?現在傳出最有可能選在14號，選前之夜的造勢場合，壓軸登場，而從11號開始，由韓市府團隊率先陪同李眉蓁掃街。

國民黨高雄市長補選候選人 李眉蓁表示：「因為李副市長，大家都知道他開刀，不忍心讓他再出來。那至於葉匡時副市長，他可能現在有工作，也不方便去耽誤他。所以應該是陳雄文副市長會帶隊。現在韓市長的部分，還在聯繫中，如果有最新消息，我會跟大家報告。」

國民黨期盼韓風再起，幫李眉蓁開啟逆轉契機，但民進黨高雄市長補選候選人 陳其邁，有不同看法，認為6月6號的罷韓投票，高雄市民已經做了決定，李眉蓁不應該再追尋韓國瑜的腳步，否則15號投票日，民眾會將自己的想法，反映在選票上。

民進黨高雄市長補選候選人 陳其邁表示：「高雄有一個新的一個開始。妳(李眉蓁)再延用舊的人馬，然後又抄舊的政見，甚至跟很多市民期待有落差。」

而除了假日有民眾黨主席柯文哲加持，民眾黨吳益政一早就獨自現身街口，向選民拉票，強調會和市民多傳達理念，認為選舉的重點，不是要靠黨內大咖加持，而是要真的有能 解決人民問題。

民眾黨高雄市長補選候選人 吳益政表示：「別的大咖、別的主席來，你要來幫忙你的候選人，是你要帶來解決方案。所以今天來，不是誰來幫忙造勢，是來解決高雄的問題，我覺得大家都沒有抓到這一點。」

各陣營忙著在最短的時間內，抓住每一張選票，而不只候選人忙碌，同樣辛苦的還有高雄市選委會，因為這已經是高雄今年第3次大型選舉，9號發出類似開箱文的說明，分享選舉工作的前置準備，包括測試整裝、圈票遮屏和投票匭，讓民眾知道每一回選舉的前置作業。
