Taipei City Mayoral Candidates Step Up Campaigning|台北市長之爭 藍綠力拚團結氣勢

Taipei City Mayor Ko Wen-je, who is seeking re-election, recently launched a card for supporters, seeking like-minded people to join his campaign. Meanwhile, the Kuomintang's Taipei City mayoral candidate Ting Shou-chung enlisted the support of former Deputy Mayor Allen Chiu, while the Democratic Progressive Party is seeking to unify its grassroots city councilors. President Tsai Ing-wen will also join DPP mayoral candidate Pasuya Yao in a hike on Aug. 25.

Pasuya Yao, the Democratic Progressive Party's Taipei City mayoral candidate, campaigned alongside five DPP city councilors seeking re-election.

The DPP sought to give off the image of a unified party, as it knows it is facing an uphill battle in this race. As such, it sought to have its grassroots city councilors' campaign for Yao. Even President Tsai Ing-wen has been enlisted. She will join Yao for a hike on Aug. 25 in her first campaign appearance after visiting the Republic of China's diplomatic allies in Central and South America.

This road towards Taipei mayor was never an easy road to take. Who would say it's an easy road to take? I think the "supporter's card" is another way to form a clique. I respect him. Everyone is doing their own thing in this election.

Incumbent Taipei City Mayor Ko Wen-je is seeking re-election as an independent candidate. He recently launched the "Ko P supporter's card." In a Facebook post, he also listed 16 qualifications, including financial discipline, support for housing justice and support for inclusive playground facilities. The media believes this is an alternative party manifesto.

There are two objectives. The first is that I find it very troublesome if there is a whole bunch of people wanting to take photos with me because I don't know who they are. This way, I can conduct a selection or a screen(ing). This is the first objective. The second is that it is also a type of promotion to seek like-minded people.

Meanwhile, Ting Shou-chung, the Kuomintang's mayoral candidate, called on former Deputy Mayor Allen Chiu on Aug. 23. He asked Chiu, a doctor, for advice on the issues of medical treatment and municipal administration. Ting was accompanied by four KMT legislators.

Comparing Ko P and Chiu P, our Chiu P is a urology expert, and there is no one better than him in this area.

Chiu, who previously considered running for mayor, is supporting Ting. It is unknown whether he will join Ting's campaign team.
