MAC DENIES SENDING SECRET LETTER TO CHINA'S TAIWAN AFFAIRS OFFICE|傳陸委會送密函給國台辦? 張小月否認

Mainland Affairs Council Minister CHANG HSIAO-YUEH denied a report that Mainland Affairs Council had sent a secret letter to China's Taiwan Affairs Office. She said the government's stance to have face to face communication with China hasn't changed. She was speaking at a dragon boat festival gala held for businesspeople working in China but many key figures didn't show up, leading to speculations that it was due to China's pressuring. Taiwan's Straits Exchange Foundation sponsored the 2017 Spring Festival Gala for Taiwanese businesspeople, many participated while several important key persons were missing such as President Wang Ping-shen and Honorary President Kuo Shan-huei of the Association of Taiwan Investment Enterprises on the Mainland. ==CHANG HSIAO-YUEH Minister, Mainland Affairs Council== Actually, for those Taiwan businessmen in China, we hope commerce segregates from politics. The main stance of our government is to assist Taiwan businessmen. And they expressed their intentions of returning to Taiwan. There is no need to be evasive or confront with. We should think the way that everyone belongs to the cross-strait, you have your thinking while we have our own political views. I believe the cross-strait needs a shared communication channel. The association is being oppressed by China, there has been a hearsay that Minister Chang asked a middle man to deliver a secret letter to Director Zhang Zhijun of China's Taiwan Affairs Office. ==CHANG HSIAO-YUEH Minister, Mainland Affairs Council== There is no such thing. Our stance is very clear, we had been publicly expressed our stance many times. We urge to communicate with Mainland China via dialogues; we need to meet face-to-face. Minister Chang expressed government's stance and emphasized the council's continuous services to Taiwanese businesspeople in China. For those attending the gala, they urge cross-strait governments to communicate via Taiwanese business people.
