VIOLENT PROTESTS AT FRENCH ELECTION RESULTS|不滿法國大選結果 示威動亂141人被捕

Clashes broke out in Paris between the police and protesters on the eve of Emmanuel Macron's election as French President. Crowds gathered on the street were calling from Macron to step down, a sign that the election has seriously divided French society. On the night of Macron's election victory, a large number of the public took to the streets of Paris, asking Macron to step down. They threw bottles at the police but were dispersed by tear gas. Similar demonstrations took place in other cities and at least 141 people were arrested. ==PROTESTOR== We do not want a president who takes orders from the EU and bank lobbyists. The votes he won only represents 30 percent of French population. They said Macron won the presidency with 66 percent of votes. However, there was 40 percent of blank or spoiled votes. At 39, Macron won the presidency with 66.1 percent of votes. However, the low turnout, together with 33.9 percent votes for Far-Right candidate Marine Le Pen, led to a divided society in France. A national strike took place due to Macron's push for bills that requested working on holidays when he served as the Minister of Economy. The hardline Left Party was ready for the demonstration upon Macron's election victory to protest Macron's inclination to extreme free economic policies. Macron is scheduled to assume office on May 14. However, he needs to secure a majority for his year-old party in the June parliamentary election to push ahead with his economic policies, including tax reforms and retirement pension reforms. Right after the election, Macron has announced a name change for his party to La Republique En Marche, or Republic on the Move, in the hopes of recruiting more people to join the party.
