SECURITY GUARDS TO REPLACE SCHOOL MILITARY TRAINING INSTRUCTORS IN 4 YEARS|教部"創新人力方案" 教官退出校園轉職校安

In another move towards achieving transitional justice, all military training instructors on campus across Taiwan have been scheduled for withdrawal by 2021. But their departure also leaves a vacuum in terms of campus security. To fill the gap, the Ministry of Education will help schools re-employ military training instructors as security guards. In their new capacity, former military training instructors will continue to carry out security responsibilities, but will no longer teach military training courses. So far, 8 private institutions have applied for such re-employment programs. ==STUDENT== Hi, military training instructor. Mr. Tai was discharged from the military and used to work as a military training instructor at this school. His title now, however, is changed from military training instructor to security guard, with no major difference in the job requirement. He is in charge of campus security and students counseling as well. ==TAI I-HUA Security Guard, Taipei Fushing Private School== As the joint college examination is approaching, the pressure is mounting. But I believe you can overcome it. ==TAI I-HUA Security Guard, Taipei Fushing Private School== Aside from courses about military defense, I teach students everything, everything is included. Wherever the students are, we will be there. Mr. Tai used to be a military training instructor and retired four years ago. He came back to work at Taipei Fushing Private School because there was a vacancy left by a military training instructor's retirement and the number of instructors will be reduced through attrition. In response, the MOE puts forward an alternative project instead and eight private schools in Taipei have applied for it. ==TSAO SHOU-CHUAN Acting Director, Taipei Dep. of Edu. Military Education Office== According to the regulation by the MOE, every security guard receives a maximum of NT$ 800,000, including his salary and year-end bonus. Whether he is at public or private schools, the salary is the same. As for the budget, private schools will be subsidized by the MOE directly. Public schools will cover the money by personnel costs which were originally used to pay military training instructors. Taipei Department of Education emphasizes that military training instructors at high schools and universities will be replaced with security guards, the so-called instructors without wearing uniforms, because the job requirement makes little difference. When schools recruit security guards in the future, those who have served as military training instructors will be hired first.
