JAPAN MEDIA: CHINA MAY SEEK TO AMEND ANTI-SECESSION LAW|日媒:中擬修"反分裂國家法" 列對台動武條件

In other news, Japanese media reported that China may seek to amend its anti-secession law, making military action possible towards Taiwan. China's Taiwan Affairs Office said that it would adhere to the rule of law to defend national sovereignty. But Taiwan's Mainland Affairs Council emphasized any move that is not peaceful or is intimidating is not conducive to the development of cross-strait relations. Japanese media reported that China may make an amendment to its anti-secession law, making military action possible towards Taiwan or formulate a national unification law. The ROC Mainland Affairs Council emphasized any move that is not peaceful or is intimidating is not conducive to the development of cross-strait relations. It was also reported that at the end of January China set up a 2017 working group on Taiwan. The group is allegedly researching giving Taiwanese nationals the same rights as Chinese nationals. The China TAO said that these were related to employment practice, social security, and general residential convenience, and these will be announced after decisions are made. China's 19 national congresses will be held in the autumn of 2017, it is inevitable that there is some struggle between factions going on.
