On Dec.25, KMT chairperson Hung Hsiu-chu and KMT senior officials led tens of thousands of people to protest against food import from the five radiation-affected prefectures in Japan. Protesters set out from the Liberty Square and arrived outside at the Ministry of Finance, which is a few hundred meters away from President Tsai Ing-wen's official residence. Although the police have set barbed wire and barricades to prevent people from intruding, a KMT official still attempted to break into Tsai's official residence, which led to a scuffle with the police.
Holding cooking utensils, KMT chairperson Hung Hsiu-chu, along with KMT senior officials, called on tens of thousands of people to take to the streets and protest against the government's plan to import food from radiation-affected prefectures in Japan.

President Tsai has to tell us what kind of exchanges she made with the Japanese government. What is so valuable that it can be exchanged for our health?
Protesters marched from the Liberty Square to the Taipei East Gate, Ketagalan Boulevard, Gongyuan Road, and finally arrived outside at the Ministry of Finance. Earlier in the day, the police set barbed wire and barricades to prevent protesters from moving forward.

We represent over 70 percent of the public. How come we see barricades and barbed wire waiting here for us? What they block is the public opinion and people's rage!
A KMT cadre had a conflict with the police because he attempted to break through the barricades and protest in front of President Tsai's official residence, nearby the Ministry of Finance.

Tsai Ing-wen, come out!
The police broadcast warnings and formed a human wall to block protesters. The march ended peacefully with no injuries. The KMT said that this is only a start to demonstrate their determination to stop food import from nuclear disaster zones in Japan. They asked the Tsai administration to listen to people's voice.
