LIKELY WATERSPROUT SPOTTED IN KENTING|第9號颱風"蒲公英"形成 墾丁疑出現"水龍捲"

The 9th Typhoon of this year, Mindulle was formed in the afternoon of August 18th. It is located about 2,000 nautical miles east-southeast of Taiwan. It will not affect Taiwan's weather for now. However, the Central Weather Bureau issued convectional rain alerts to mountainous regions of Chiayi, Nantou and Yunlin Counties. And in Kenting, waterspout was spotted on August 18th, fortunately no one was hurt. Standing at the other end of bridge, a person video recorded the scene, high spiral-like clouds over sea level, it may be waterspout. ==WITNESS== It did suck up waters, it was making circles and forming a pillar-like shape. It was about noon time of August 19 at Kenting's Houbihu. Henchun Weather Station confirmed waterspout may indeed occurred under that weather condition. ==HSUEH CHUAN-I, Chief of Pingtung Henchun Weather Station== At the intersection point of cold and warm air streams, approximately the noon time at Henchun Penisula, the outcome of convection with every condition (temperature and humidity) met, waterspout was most likely to occur. In fact, this was not the first time Kenting had waterspout. Two months ago Kenting had a ten-meter high waterspout for five minutes. No injury was reported. Taiwan recently is experiencing rare weather phenomena over Pacific Ocean such as No.8 Typhoon Dianmu, and No.9 Typhoon Mindulle formed in the afternoon of August 19th, the ocean has other tropical depressions. ==CHANG CHENG-CHUAN, Forecaster of Central Weather Bureau== Taiwan's eastern side the Pacific Ocean. it has a large depression belt. Within the belt, it has many tropical disturbances. After their formations, they may react to each other. The two typhoons will not threat Taiwan at the moment. However the convective currents generate extremely heavy rains. The Central Weather Bureau issued alerts in Chiayi, Nantou, Tainan, and Kaohsiung and Pintung mountain areas. TRANSLATED BY：ANTHONY LIN 第9號颱風"蒲公英"今天下午形成，位置在台北東南東方、兩千多公里海面上，雖暫時不影響台灣，但因全台對流雲系旺盛，氣象局針對嘉義、南投、雲林山區等地發布豪雨特報，而屏東墾丁還疑似出現水龍捲，幸好無人受傷。 站在橋的這一端，網友用手機拍下眼前的景象，海面上遠處雲層，呈現漏斗狀連接海面，讓他們懷疑這是水龍捲。 ==目擊網友== 真的會圈起來(吸水氣) 圈到一個這樣 這樣小小一條(柱狀) 網友拍到影片的地點就在墾丁後壁湖，時間約是中午12點左右。恆春氣象站調出觀測資料，發現當時的氣候條件，的確可能出現水龍捲。 ==屏東恆春氣象站主任 薛全義== 冷暖氣流的交會地 大概中午左右 大概在恆春半島附近 因為這個交會的作用 各種條件(溫度 濕度)都還蠻符合 那個產生水龍捲的狀況 其實墾丁出現水龍捲的情況，不是第一次，兩個月前、墾丁外海，也出現過10米高的水龍捲，時間長達5分鐘，幸好兩次水龍捲，都沒人員傷亡。特殊的天氣現象，也出現在太平洋，除了第8號颱風"電母"之外，第9號颱風"蒲公英"也在下午生成，而海面上也有其它熱帶性低氣壓，相當罕見。 ==氣象局預報員 張承傳== 目前在台灣東方海面的 太平洋上面 它是一個大的一個低壓帶 這個低壓帶裡面 是有許多的熱帶擾動 其實生成之後的話 其實彼此之間 都會有一些交互作用存在 太平洋兩個颱風，目前對台灣都不會有影響，反倒是全台對流雲系旺盛，氣象局針對嘉義、南投、台南，以及高屏山區發布豪雨特報，外出記得攜帶雨具。 記者王柔婷 許政俊 林國煌 台北 屏東報導
