LIN TZU-CHI WITHDRAWS FROM OLYMPICS AFTER DRUG TEST|藥檢異常 女子舉重林子琦"暫時性停賽"

A rather sad news came in late last night, Taiwanese weightlifter Lin Tzu-chi, who was originally scheduled to compete at 2:30 am Taiwan Time, has been suspended over a failed drug test. Lin has been considered a gold medal hopeful, who was likely to take home another gold after weightlifter Hsu Shu-ching. However, the Taiwan delegation received her routine doping test report, which was positive. The team then decided to temporarily suspend Lin. Here's our report from Rio. After Chen Wei-ling, Hsu Shu-ching, and Kuo Hsing-chun all competed in the Rio womens' weightlifting, it was the turn of Lin Tzu-chi in the 63 kg category. However, five hours before the game, the delegation suddenly announced that it received a routine doping test report which was positive and so had decided to temporarily suspend Lin. ==STEVEN CHEN Chinese Taipei Olympic Committee Dep. Sec. Gen.== Her urine specimen was drug tested by Mitsubishi's World Anti-Doping Agency accredited laboratory. The sample submitted on August 5 had an adverse test report. The Chinese Taipei Olympic Committee explained that Lin was suspended rather than banned because Lin had the right to explain to the Chinese Taipei antidoping organisation. However, she chose not to take part in the competition. The information was given to the coach Tsai Wen-yi the evening before the competition. ==STEVEN CHEN Chinese Taipei Olympic Committee deputy secretary-general== She said very little at the meeting yesterday. Kuo Hsing-chun had just got her medal so they were happy and I told her and she was serious and silent. So as soon as a report comes out, WADA will check the elements in the test against their records. At the 17 Asian Games in Incheon Lin broke world records and took home gold, so she was very optimistic for this Olympics. Now she cannot take part which will cast a shadow over her future.
