9 Suspected Taiwanese Victims Rescued in Thailand 疑被從柬埔寨轉賣 9台人泰國獲救返台
Human trafficking scams that offer high-paying jobs in Cambodia have recently come into the spotlight. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs' representative office in Thailand received a notification from the Thai government on the 14th, that there are 12 Taiwanese nationals entering Bangkok from Cambodia, of which nine were suspected of being victims of human trafficking while three of them could be members of the scam group.
The Criminal Investigation Bureau received a notification from the Thai government on the afternoon of the 14th that 12 Taiwanese nationals were being sold from Cambodia to Myanmar and they were intercepted by the police in Thailand. Taipei Economic and Cultural Office in Thailand found that nine people may be victims of human trafficking. Three other people were reluctant to return to Taiwan and were suspected of being members of the human trafficking group. They were temporarily held by the Thai police.
Huang Chia-chi, Deputy-Director, Criminal Investigation Bureau: “Among the 12 Taiwanese citizens, nine were identified as possible victims. There are three other possible non-victims. These three currently do not want to return to Taiwan. They are temporarily under Thai police custody. Follow-up will be handled by the CIB's Interpol Section, which will work with the Thai Immigration Bureau.”
The plane slowly arrived at Taoyuan International Airport. The nine suspected victims returned to Taiwan safely at 9:54 p.m. Three of them had requested assistance. According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs' statistics, more than 6,400 people went to Cambodia from Jan. to June this year. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the National Police Agency have received a total of 340 requests for help.

The human trafficking groups conduct various scams that offer supposed high-paying jobs overseas. The police appeal to the public to be cautious for opportunities that sound too good to be true.
柬埔寨打工詐騙案件頻傳,刑事局14日下午接獲泰國政府通報,有12名國人被轉賣到緬甸,在泰國途中被警方攔下,駐泰代表處前往查證,研判9人可能是人口販運受害人,另外3人不願回台,懷疑是人蛇集團成員,暫時由泰方留置中。
刑事局副局長黃家琦表示:「這12名國人當中初步鑑定,有9名可能是有被害人的身分,其他有3名可能是非被害人,這3名他們目前不同意返台,暫時由泰國的警方留置當中。後續將會由我們刑事局的國際刑警科跟泰國的移民局來共同協商。」
飛機緩緩抵達桃園國際機場,9名疑似受害人在晚間9點54分平安回到台灣,其中3人曾有報案或求助的紀錄,根據外交部統計,今年1到6月就有6400多人前往柬埔寨,我國外交部和警政署目前共受理340位國人求助,像他們一樣能順利救回的,仍只是冰山一角。
記者問:「你們是要轉移去緬甸去你們知道嗎?」疑似受害人回應:「這我不清楚。」記者再問:「你為什麼會到泰國去?」疑似受害人表示:「這個我有點不太清楚。」記者問起回台的心情時,疑似受害人表示開心。
人蛇集團透過各種形式包裝的求職詐騙五花八門,警方呼籲,民眾如果在網路上看到出國包吃包住用到好的工作機會,千萬要謹慎提防,以免下機後淘金夢碎,除了被迫加入詐騙集團,甚至遭到毆打虐待。
