Additional Central Epidemic Command Center officials have contracted COVID-19. Commander Chen Shih-chung was the first to test positive, and now Community Epidemic Control Group head Hsueh Jui-yuan, Medical Response Division deputy head Victor Wang, and spokesperson Chuang Jen-hsiang have also tested positive. They are all asymptomatic or experiencing mild symptoms.
The daily COVID-19 caseload in Taiwan is falling, but the number of cases involving the Central Epidemic Command Center is rising. Commander Chen Shih-chung was the first to test positive on June 12. Now, three more have returned positive rapid test results. They are Community Epidemic Control Group head Hsueh Jui-yuan, Medical Response Division deputy head Victor Wang, and spokesperson Chuang Jen-hsiang. The three are asymptomatic or experiencing mild symptoms. They will isolate at home after their diagnosis is confirmed via a telemedicine appointment.
Philip Lo, Deputy Head, Medical Response Div., CECC: “This morning, two of them had related symptoms and voluntarily took rapid tests, which came back positive. As for our deputy head Hsueh Jui-yuan, he was asymptomatic but still used an at-home rapid test, and the result was also positive.”
CECC official Philip Lo explained that other officials, including himself, Deputy Commander Chen Tsung-yen, Disease Surveillance Division head Chou Jih-haw, and Medical Response Division head Shih Chung-liang have tested negative using rapid tests. They are all currently in good health and will continue to monitor their health conditions. Lo added that the operations of the CECC won't be affected.
Philip Lo, Deputy Head, Medical Response Div., CECC: “They're taking leave and will remain at home. During this time, other deputy heads or officials will take over their work in the CECC. The CECC will continue operating normally, and it won't be affected by these three senior officials taking leave.”
Lo will serve as the spokesperson until June 21 while Chuang recuperates at home. Chen Tsung-yen will preside over the daily press conference at 2 p.m.
新冠本土確診人數下降，不過疫情指揮中心疫情卻持續擴大。繼指揮官陳時中12日確診後，再傳出多人快篩陽性，包括社區防疫組長薛瑞元、醫療應變組副組長王必勝，以及發言人莊人祥等3人，14日週二使用快篩試劑檢驗後，都呈現陽性，所幸目前均屬於輕症或無症狀，將安排通訊診察後採居家照護。
疫情指揮中心醫療應變組副組長羅一鈞說：「今早因為這個，其中2位有相關的症狀自行快篩陽性，那另外我們的薛瑞元次長，本身雖然沒有症狀，不過也做了家用快篩也是陽性。」
羅一鈞表示，目前包括他自己，以及副指揮官陳宗彥、疫情監測組長周志浩、醫療應變組長石崇良等人，皆已完成快篩，結果均為陰性。目前身體健康狀況良好，將持續落實自我健康監測，並強調指揮中心業務不會受到影響。
疫情指揮中心醫療應變組副組長羅一鈞表示：「在這段他們請假，在家居家照護的期間呢，相關的指揮中心的工作，會由其他的副組長或者是幹部來代理。指揮中心的公務仍然會正常來運作，不會受到3位長官請假的一些影響。」
莊人祥居家照護期間，發言人職務將由羅一鈞副組長代理到6月21日。至於每天下午2時疫情記者會，則由副指揮官陳宗彥代理主持。
