After the ministry-level Taoyuan General Hospital was confirmed to be the site of intra-hospital cluster infection, most of its outpatient services have been suspended while its impatient care unit has stopped taking in new patients. Meanwhile, the National Taiwan University Hospital has also announced new visiting restrictions.
On the evening of January 18, the Taoyuan Hospital has temporarily closed its nighttime outpatient clinics after a cluster infection of the coronavirus erupted inside the facility. The hospital has stopped admitting new patients and suspended medication pick-up services inside. Most outpatient clinics are temporarily closed and it is yet unknown when the clinics would resume. Patients visiting the outpatient clinics which are still running, are required to pick up their medications at pharmacies or clinics outside the hospital.

(Did you chose to be discharged from the hospital earlier because of what has happened?) No. (You were scheduled to be discharged today?) Yes. (What is the situation like inside the hospital? How are the medical personnel doing psychologically?) It's all normal.
(Did you take extra precaution for coming to the hospital?) I wear my face mask as usual. (Are you at least a bit worried?) No, life and death are fated.
Following the increase in cluster infection cases, the hospital has established three controlled areas according to their levels of dangerousness with red zone being the most dangerous area, followed by yellow and green. The red zones are the areas where the confirmed cases had been active or the areas where positive specimen of the virus were found. Stringent controls are being implemented in the red zone and those who wish to enter are required to wear N95 face masks. The yellow zones are the peripheral areas to the red zone while the green zones are the low risk areas such as the outpatient clinics where the public could still enter and receive medical services.
The fact that the CECC had established a command post at the Taoyuan Hospital on Jan 18 was to investigate whether the route of infection came from face-to-face contacts or from the surrounding environment which may had been contaminated. The CECC will further investigate this situation.
In an emergency announcement, the National Taiwan University Hospital adjusted the visiting regulations as a response to curb further possible infections. Visiting hours are scheduled twice daily from 11am to 12pm and 6pm to 7pm for general wards while the visiting hours are limited to one hour once a day for intensive care units with prior appointment and a limitation of two visitors each time.
