The military held a mass wedding ceremony on Oct. 30. There were 188 Army couples taking part, including two same-sex couples. These were the first same-sex couples to get married in a Joint Forces mass wedding ceremony in Taiwan.

The ROC Armed Forces held a mass wedding on the 30th. Of the 188 Army couples taking part, two were same-sex couples. These were the first same-sex couples to wed in a military mass wedding in Taiwan.

Thank you to my partner for supporting me all the way. Being in the military is like being gay. Neither is easy.

Our love is no different than other heterosexual couples. We are here today because we hope to pave the way for same-sex couples in the future.

We want more people to see us and to normalize same-sex relationships.

I'm so moved. It's finally legal. We are very happy to be able to participate in this event and to see the military's progress.

Constitutional Interpretation No. 748 was passed by the legislature last May. Couples could start registering their marriages on the 24th, including couples planning to wed in the military ceremony.

Our first mass wedding was held in 2014. This is the first time same-sex couples registered for the mass wedding. We believe everyone is equal and we give our blessings to each and every couple.

The Army Command gave its blessings to all the couples. Last year, same-sex couples were not allowed to take part in the ceremony. The same-sex couples brought rainbow flags with them to the ceremony and praised the military for taking a big step forward.

同婚新人陳瑩宣表示：「謝謝我的伴侶，一路上支持我。因為從軍這條路，就跟同志這條路一樣，都不簡單。」

同婚新人李沴稹表示：「我們的愛，並沒有跟異性有不同的地方。對，我們會站出來，也是因為…希望就是能，下屆更多同志新人，能站出來這樣子。」

同婚新人王翊表示：「期待可以讓更多人看見同志，就像異性戀一樣，是日常。」

同婚新人孟酉玫表示：「很感動，就是終於合法。而且我們又參加這個活動，覺得非常開心。而且也看到，國軍的進步。」

軍方表示，立法院去年5月17號通過「司法院釋字第748號解釋施行法」， 24號開放登記同性婚姻，國軍聯合婚禮也依法律規定，開放同婚新人參加，表明國軍立場開明，與時俱進。

陸軍政戰主任楊安表示：「本軍自103年，辦理聯合婚禮迄今，第一次有同婚的官兵報名。我們的態度，都是一視同仁，給予每對新人，衷心的祝福。」
今年陸軍司令部以愛你愛你、永結同心為主題，給予每對新人誠摯祝福，有別去年同婚軍人都退出聯合婚禮。今年同婚新人帶著彩虹旗出席，大讚國軍又向前邁向一大步，站在愛的面前，大家都一視同仁。
