Beauty Treatments Popular During COVID-19 Epidemic |疫情期間可戴口罩遮瑕 有民眾趁機做美容

As people wear face masks to prevent infecting COVID-19, some people who would like to seek beauty treatments, sees it as the perfect opportunity to cover-up their faces without anyone noticing, during their recovery period. However there are several cases of complications resulting from these treatments.

The worst case would be bacterial infection. Sometimes, it would result in cellulitis or total skin ulceration. Sometimes, even skin grafting is needed. It is hard to repair wounds and scars.

People would wear face masks during the recovery period after they receive a semi-permanent lip tint treatment. Especially during this COVID-19 outbreak, people are required to wear face masks on several occasions, therefore some people choose this period to seek out beauty treatments. However our lips are considered to be mucosal tissue and thus are more fragile than normal skin. Beauticians usually exfoliate the lip skin before applying the anesthetics. Then color pigments are tattooed onto the mucosa. If the disinfection was not done properly or if there's a problem with the dye, then it is very likely to cause complications.

If you wear a face mask and the mask keeps rubbing the wounds, it could cause the increase of the fluids from the wounds. Then there's the bacterial infection and the worst of all, hyperpigmentation.

The dermatologist suggested that semi-permanent lip tint treatments pose more risks than eyebrow tattoos and that one should refrain from doing it unless it's necessary to prevent tissue necrosis or permanent scars.

皮膚科醫師 江紀萱表示：「嚴重就怕造成細菌感染，細菌感染有時候蜂窩性組織炎，或是整個潰爛，或是到時候需要補皮，有傷口、有疤痕很難修復， 這都是有的狀況。」

紋繡唇後復原的尷尬期，民眾會戴口罩遮掩，尤其防範武漢肺炎這段期間，也有不少工作場所規定必須戴口罩防疫，因此有民眾想趁機會做些小美容，但因嘴唇屬黏膜組織，比起一般皮膚更脆弱，而坊間美容師在紋繡唇之前，會先去除嘴唇的老廢角質層再敷麻藥，再把色素刺進黏膜，若執行的美容師消毒不完全、染料出問題，容易引發併發症。

皮膚科醫師 江紀萱表示：「你一直戴口罩去摩擦這些傷口，可能會造成滲液增加，再來就是說細菌感染，或者更嚴重會色素沉澱。」

皮膚科醫師建議，比起紋繡眉毛，紋繡嘴唇風險更大，非必要盡量避免去施作，以免造成組織壞死或留下傷疤。
