Torrential Rains Cause Flooding All Over Hsinchu|新竹超大豪雨 土石衝破明湖路民宅

Heavy torrential rains fell in the Hsinchu area at 1 a.m. on June 14, and many floods were reported locally. One residence even fell prey to a landslide from above, scaring the owner so much he couldn't sleep all night.


After the roof of this home was bashed in by a landslide, debris poured in. Ms. Liu, who lives on Minghu Road, says she didn't sleep a wink all night.

I saw -- heard a huge noise. The house was totally destroyed. (Were you worried last night?) I was scared to death. I was too scared to sleep. I still haven't slept.

(The rain) affected Hsinchu City at around 1 a.m. At its heaviest, 62.5 millimeters of rain fell at the train station in the northern district.

Floods were reported all over the city, including on Gaofeng Road and in underpasses. One driver that wasn't paying attention to road conditions found himself stuck after driving into a flooded underpass.

Mud and sand can keep falling down at any given moment.

I had to keep getting up to keep an eye on the situation. My son was yelling for help. If the situation gets too bad, just yell for help so everyone goes outside.

Consecutive days of torrential rain have resulted in floods all over the city. With further rain expected, everyone should remain on high alert.



土石流把住家屋頂衝破一個大洞，造成大量的土石直接衝進民宅，家住明湖路的劉小姐，經過一夜的大雨災情，嚇到早上都還不敢睡覺。

劉姓民眾表示：「看到聽到很大聲的巨響，房子都壓壞掉了。（昨天晚上有沒有很擔心？) 我嚇死了我都不敢睡覺，我到現在都沒睡。」

新竹市消防局災害管理科長 林豐洲表示：「大概凌晨一點的時候，對新竹市有影響，那整個雨勢在整個最大時，雨量是在我們北區的，北區的車站有測到62.5毫米。」

除了明湖路以外，高峰路和地下道也傳出多處零星災情，其中還有車輛駕駛因為沒注意路況，直接把車開進造成車子直接卡在水裡。

高峰里里長 郭朋鑫表示：「一些泥沙什麼，隨時都還會有下來的可能。」

陳姓民眾表示：「我就是要一直起來看啊，我兒子就喊救命啊，太大的話就喊救命啊，喊一喊大家會出來。」

連日的大雨，造成許多地方都出現淹水狀況，提醒民眾豪雨可能還會陸續出現，未來幾天請多多注意自身安全。
