CHINA AIRLINES STAFF PROTEST CAL'S DISREGARD FOR JUNE AGREEMENT|不滿協議跳票 數百空服員蛋洗華航抗議

China Airline employees have taken to the street, once again, as they say the company has not made any changes agreed to after the previous, unprecedented strike in June. At the time the Chairman Ho Nuan-hsuan agreed to sign seven items with the flight attendants' union to end the strike. However, these still remain unfulfilled. On Oct. 14, over 300 flight attendants protested outside China Airlines' office. They said that if by the end of October the items were not implemented, they will stage another strike. Several hundred China Airlines flight attendants threw eggs at China Airlines' sign. Police put barriers in place and warned protesters that their actions were illegal. ==POLICE== Stop this illegal action and immediately disperse. Union members held banners protesting against China Airlines Chairman Ho Nuan-hsuan. On June 26 China Airlines signed an agreement on seven items with their flight staff. However, the company has not done anything to comply with the agreement, thus the unions are accusing the company of violating the agreement and acting in an underhand manner. ==LIN CHIA-WEI Taoyuan Flight Attendants' Union Sec-Gen. == They signed an agreement and then have not honored it. As Confucius says, it's like signing an agreement with a thief. We hope that China Airlines will honor the agreement that we made in good faith on June 24. The union angrily described how the agreement they signed, where both sides agreed to seven items that should be put into practise. China Airlines representatives said that they think that the union's group negotiation process had flaws and at the meeting on June 24, what they signed was a basic agreement and they could modify it. ==PENG JUNG-MIN China Airlines representative== When Chairman Ho talked about these things with the union, it was about the topics which lead to the strike and signing an agreement about the strike. So we, the company, think that that is not a group agreement. That is our main reason. The union thinks that China Airlines has violated the agreement, as they have demanded new flight staff sign the basic labor law article 84-1, and broken the signed agreement on getting lifts so that all flight staff can get the US$4 subsidy. The union say that if CAL doesn't put these things into practise before the end of October, it may well hold another strike.
